View Full Version : how much are you willing to pay for a mascot?
imago-allan 12-31-2001, 12:53 AM Greetings everyone!
Mascots are good business promoters. We offer mascot design and would like to sense your willingness to pay for it.
We are planning to launch a promo later on our mascot design. Do watch out for it.
For the meantime, please answer our poll and place your comments here.
Thanks.
:)
LiveTronix 12-31-2001, 02:36 AM I think mascot's get annoying - for some things they are cool, but not for web hosting!
Revelation 12-31-2001, 02:55 AM A well designed mascot can help any buisness, but I don't think that I'd be too sure it could be brought into web hosting. I'd like to see some previous work (so you guys who probably have to do a couple free or cheep mascots for some sites to collect references/a portfolio.)
ho247 12-31-2001, 05:45 AM It depends what kind of style the mascot is designed in, if it's all cartoony then it probably wont be suitable for most of the web hosting sites.

imago-allan 12-31-2001, 06:00 AM Ok guys. We will suit the design of the mascot according to your taste or preference. But, for this thread, we just want to know (assuming the mascot looks great) how much are you willing to spend for it.
Free/cheap? we will see what we can do later. We will build our portfolio. Don't you worry.
Thanks again.
:)
If I needed a mascot i'd probably be "willing" to pay $100-199 for it, however I believe the work that goes into one would make it easily worth more into the $199-299+ range.
greengunboat 12-31-2001, 10:56 AM a mascot can definatley come in handy for the customer, when they need to know what 'Linux' is, or during the sign up process. It might make them feel a little better about the whole thing if they are new to the web hosting idea.
dherman76 12-31-2001, 11:11 AM Does anyone remember "Clipit"? That was microsoft's paper clip that came to life in Office...notice he is gone for XP? They found it annoying and they had way to many complaints about him.
Rewdog 12-31-2001, 11:19 AM I dress myself up as eMegaMan everytime I go outside. Got a cape and everything :D
It works well
WebHostin 12-31-2001, 03:13 PM I want the Bell Atlantic guy! He does
all the commericials and the 411. He
has the best voice.

Clipit was also annoying as it popped up and asked you if you were writing a letter, or other annoying message, and it drove poeple nuts.

Then everybody else tries to copies him...then it seriously gets annoying - even OpenOffice..StarOffice for Linux do that!

Fremont Servers 01-02-2002, 02:01 AM If you know how to design and make it, I don't mine paying $100-$200. I'm seriuos.
imago-allan 01-02-2002, 05:49 AM Sure thing. As usual we are offering a full-refund guarantee for all orders if the customer request for it, with no questions asked.
We will be giving the promo sooner than you expected. We are just feeling the general interest. Who knows, it may be 2 hours from now. The first ones who grab the opportunity will get it.
Those who haven't voted yet, do cast them now, please.
:)
code_renegade 01-02-2002, 05:58 AM If you can handle the high demands that I've got for my mascot, you can have the job. It's serious-looking, and for a hint, it's a wolf... :stickout
imago-allan 01-02-2002, 10:08 AM Asia,
We don't make the mascot. We don't have the skills (and time) to make the mascot come to life. What we can only do is design it for you. It is actually a draining (as in using up your "creative juices") activity.
For us, mascots are good. Whether it is annoying or not, will depend on how you put it to use on your website. You can use it to guide your clients in the actual signing up process if you are a web host. You can place it in your frequently asked questions (FAQ) section to offer friendly answers to common questions. You can think of other possibilities.
