I am sure I will be critized, and harassed over this post. But really, that is quite OK.

I am not a Web-Hosting Company Currently. But I have been taken a look at this Board for quite a while, long before coming a user, and I JUST DO NOT understand a few things.

Everytime a Web-Host has a minor fault such as
A Little Downtime, or The Technical Support people do not Reply right away, something wrong with the Billing. Someone comes here posts, get's all excited, makes accusations and just makes life difficult in general.

Now -- there are exceptions to this if a company has a reputation of such and consistently has the same problems I could understand........ But I am just unclear as to why people get so excited everytime something doesn't go their way with a web-host.. I mean, does it just boil down to plain selfishness or ??? what??

Sure, if something is consistently wrong or out of line it deserves to be spoken.. We all know that there are so many web-hosts out there and theres bound and determined to be problems.. Sometimes with management, sometimes with connections, something just mother nature in general, and failures out of the control of the web-hosts.

As a Future to come Web-Hosting Enterpreuner so to speak.
I would even consider trying to start a

"Company Protection Agency!"

they make a Consumer Protection Agency, -- so why not a Company Protection agency??? For the customers whom get out of hand, non payers, repeat TOS offenders, etc?

I guess this long winded message all boils down to ... Can't we be a little bit more understanding and patient once in a while??

It's nature, at least this is what I think, heh.
You see, take example with Hosturbo, with their situation, they didn't even post a message in their site stating the problem. Ok, let's say they have thousands of emails to entertain, well, they can just post one on their site and that's it, tell us they are having a downtime for a week and then we'll be back normal, isn't that a simple thing to do? But they didn't. That shows irresponsibility and customer lost confidence in them.

I'm not sure it's because people are afraid.

What do you expect to protect for a company - the right not to be discussed in a public forum? The right not to be held accountable for problems? If people unfairly accuse companies they are generally slammed for it - and companies have every right to post opposing viewpoints. Company Protection Agencies already exits - they are called lawyers. If a company has been liabled or slandered - they can sue. Public forums are not only a great place for people's bitching and moaning about companies - but one of the reasons they exist.
Sure problems will occur - but nobody really signs a TOS that say: We'll do our best, but you have to agree not to say anything when the inevitable occurs and we have downtime. Forums and the bitching are a great way for people to realize that the problems are probably commonplace and to more clearly differentiate between truly problematic companies and those who have normal problems.

Besides, who would judge what is a significant problem? Would you slam a consumer for complaining about 10 minutes of downtime? Sure it isn't much, but maybe it happens everyday - who would filter it and decide that it really is a problem and the public should be privy to the complaint?

I've never really seen a company unfairly crucified here - most deserve it....contrarily, I have seen companies garner support simply by posting. I don't think companies need protected around this game. Consumers need educated about Unlimited and 99.9999% uptime and overselling and ....It goes on and on. The problem is companies throw these numbers and features around indiscrimately.
