Hey! I am looking for a host and willing to spend like less than 50US a year, mostly 40US cos my domain is already purchased. I want at least:

40-50 meg of space (preferable more)
1-2 or more Gig transfer
Cgi-bin, Perl 5, Php...
Good support
No downtime!
And a good host, not the lil companies that would go out of business soon or sumthin

I used tobe with Hosturbo, but as you all know.....they SUCK! . So yea, help me out PLZ! Email me at missroxy@msn.com or IM me at vitaminROXY asap! Any kind of help would be appreciated A LOT! thx

I'm in the same situation here. Darn, hostrouble. Well, I would recommend myacen.com.au They some pretty good plan. Plus, a good reputation.

Roxy, with all respect but $ 40.- per year comes down to $ 3.33 per month. For that price you will no doubt end up at one of the little companies.

Thats not bad per se though, as long as you realize it.

I recently heard that there was a new host that only charged 10 cents per year.....Honestly....They still make their profit margin because it only costs them 9 cents per account per server....I think they are called bendoverhosting.com....I think they make money....

The admins here are childish and have for some reason censored/removed my reccomendation. It's a shame too, I was just offering a friendly honest opinion of my host which happens to fit your criteria.

Well not really I was censored just recently, but when I got the reason. It was well justified. Also we have to look at the quality of the web forum. the knowledge to noise ratio is very good here. more fact's here than bs.

i don't think the mods here are childish when it comes to enforcing the rules (click the Rules button in the forum header) - they spend alot of time in this e-community trying to keep everything clean and fair for everyone/every company.

if your post was removed by a mod, then he has a reason - if you never received that reason from the mod, then you should email the moderators and ask them.

now... back to the original post:

continuing with what Pilgrim wrote

there's that good ol' infamous saying ... you get what you paid for. :D

anyways, for the past year or so - i've entrusted my website at Carlos's hands at wizardshosting.com - and i havent had many problems with my site being down or anything :)

good luck in your search! :)

Just so we can get on with the thread topic...

First, thankx for the insult. Nice. Second, the host you suggested has been censored on the forums due to *them* spamming the forum with false recommendations (pretending to be a satisfied customer). We don't allow this for obvious reasons and their URL has been banned for 90 days as a result.

For a small business what would you recommend? What I need is...

Good customer service
adequate bandwidth (limited downtime)
reasonable price
scalability (in case the business grows... hopefully..)
at the beginning, e-commerce isn't necessary
I read good reviews in this forum about Aletia? Can I pay 9.95/mo even as a small business?

I've had my account with Aletia (http://aletiahosting.com) for 6 months now and would highly recommend them. Price, features, support all great. My uptime has been around 98.9% over this period even with recent problems with the server I was on.

Recently I found hosting on behalf of a friend on a small budget at Dellz (http://www.dellz.com/plans/standplus.htm). $5.00 month paid monthly. They have attractive features for the price. The account was set up in a matter of hours and I've had no problems. So far so good. I have'nt had to use their support directly so can't comment on their response time.
