Paypal would be your best bet in starting out & then maybe you can upgrade to 2CO and then a merchant account if it warrants

Paypal is good and many customers do like it.
I would recommend it. There are many good 3rd party processors as well.
Worldpay is a good example.

I suggest using paypal at first also then atleast adding 2checkout or paysystems when you have the money.

Currently Paysystems does not support a third party platform for new clients. They are opening up new account on a merchant account platform for Europe and the U.S. only

I have not had any problems with paypal. Actually I wasn't even using it and a customer asked about it. So I said I would get an account set up so he could pay me that way. Now, all but a few of my customers pay with paypal.

Go with 2CO, so your service will look professionally. Offering only PayPal is somehow amateurish.

2co will mess your business up seriously. They decide whether it's fraud or not, and then request faxed stuff for you to accept it. They don't allow you to take chargeback risks or anything like that. It'll take you more than the chargeback amount for you to verify orders. Also, they have deals about being stubborn, and don't support the merchant at all. Read other threads about 2co and you'll see what they do. They also take forever to respond to support tickets, and try to hide things from you. Eg. when our account was terminated w/o notice due to high risk, we had to ask why we can't log in. Then, they said, account doesn't exist anymore. More info, we get terminated. After asking for a long time did we get "high fraud risk".

You can find a lot of merchant accounts for free now a days. The only cost really involved anymore is the monthly cost which are pretty minimal. You will find that not only do you have to worry about chargeback's with third party billers but the chargeback rate can often be higher because your customers do not recognize the name on their billing statement. If you need assistance in getting setup with a free merchant account, I can send over some links but there is several online you can find. If credit is a concern, don't let it be. The only thing you have to be concerned about is if you had a previous merchant account shut down and if that is the case, you can always consider an offshore merchant account.

I have had no problems with paypal so far, though it is up there in the fees. Since it only costs me money when I make money I think it's worthwhile having Paypal as an option at least. Although most of my clients pay by bank direct deposit.

I have had good experiences with PayPal in the past and I am looking to start my hosting venture with PayPal and then move into MyPaySystems as the traffic increases...
