GRRRRR.

I am getting an Access Denied to my WHM control panel with my dedicated server at Interserver.net

I have sent an email to their support team, but have not received a response. Has anyone ever experianced this sort of thing happening on a dedicated server? I am needing to access some of the files and also set up some new accounts.

I hate to point out the obvious, but are you using the correct username & pass?

Maybe they changed your root pw for non-payment. Or that since VDI owns them, vdi is dropping cpanel and moving everyone over to webpanel in prepartion for AUCC.

Yep, I am using the same old userid and passwoed that I've been using for months.

The non-payment issue would be unlikely, but if that were the case, I would hope that they would inform me if there was any sort of problem before they denied an account access to their server. If this is the case, then I would have to give their customer service a very poor rating seeing that I was not informed of any payment irregularities.

Robert,
Are you still using the VDI WEBPANEL version of WHM? Can you telnet or SSH into the box using the root password?

No, he meant that InterServer's servers are located in the VDI datacenter. VDI does not own them. :)

The thread about this dropped off without being answered. I still don't know. Part of this was the 'sales@interserver.net' livehelper thing on VDI (which is still there), and I think there was another reason, but I've forgotten it now. Reminds me to call Bill and wish him a happy new year (and slip in that question).

We use the Webpanel, Cpanel and Soon AUCC.

The client that has a problem here may have not entered the correct info or account was disabled.

2002 is going to be a Interesting year

Did you make sure that Cpanel has been started? I had the same problem before after a reboot via

skill root (stupid me)

Wanted to give you an update. Here is the scoop that I received from Interserver:

Hi,
It appears someone changed the root pass using an exploit in the kernal you are running.
I have reset the root pass to the old root pass, however currently all telnet + ssh
access to the server is disabled as we scan the server for any backdoors. We are also
going to be updating you to the latest kernal once completed with our scan to patch the
exploit whoever did this used. We will keep you informed on this situation.

Regards,
Support Team

They have since updated to the latest kernal and I have Telnet access and access to WHM.
