I have a choice between POP-before-SMTP and SMTP AUTH. I am using Redhat 7.2, Qmail (most recent), and the HSphere control panel. Just wanted opinions.

POP3-before-SMTP. Many MUAs don't support SMTP AUTH, but rare is the MUA which doesn't support POP3.

I have used both. It depends on you. The easiest I find is pop before smtp. When you get into smtp-auth, then you have to configure your mail client for that. Now doing it your self isent too hard, but then explaining it to others especially if they use a varity of clients. So go with pop

POP-before-SMTP -- Most E-Mail clients check POP mail before trying to send out mail, therefore everything should work without additional configuration on the client side.

POP before SMTP is cool...
