View Full Version : What is the absolutely easiest to setup BB?
ckpeter 12-29-2001, 01:45 PM I am looking to install a BB. It is for the purpose of demonstration of a software I wrote.
I am looking for one that's the simplest and easiest to install. As I don't want to waste my time configurating the BB, since it is not the focus.
I have no other requirment other than that it allows login. PHP/PERL/Mysql/text based, just anything.
Know of a BB like this?
Thanks,
Peter
The Prohacker 12-29-2001, 02:05 PM Well if your on a cpanel server, you can goto the panel, and click Forum/BBS, it will install XMB (http://www.xmbforums.com), which I think is a decent forum, it installs 1.11 D, but sounds like you don't need the latest....
priyadi 12-29-2001, 02:06 PM Try phpBB: http://www.phpbb.com/.
While simplicity is relative, it is simple enough for me to install.
ckpeter 12-29-2001, 02:10 PM I am on my own, plain server with no cp.
I will look into XMB and phpbb.
I need absolutely no features. Even a text based would do.
Any other one?
Thanks for the suggestions,
Peter

There are a lot of forum software out there. It may take *days* just to find out which one is the easiest to install :)

What does burning board means?
Anyway, I am not a real technical person, which is the reason why I am asking for other's experiences for a playing-kind-of board.
I am not trying to destory the board, but it won't be functioning as a forum.
I am simply looking for one with the least effort/expertise to install.
Thanks,
Peter
voxtreme - philip 12-29-2001, 02:40 PM I definitely recommend xmb.
http://www.xmbforum.com/ (http://www.xmbforum.com)
Download installation involves simply setting 4 parameters.
Its also free, which is always a bonus :)

LastActionHero 01-01-2002, 02:41 PM Burning Board install procedure
1. Upload files

3. Exceute Install.php
Done! :)
PlanetDigita 01-01-2002, 03:10 PM This board has to be one of the best boards out there. I just got it installed and it is better than vbulletin IMHO.
I am in the middle of some customization work, but you can view it here:

ckpeter 01-01-2002, 03:35 PM It does look very nice.
I will be looking over them.
Thanks for all the suggestions, much appreciated to everyone.
Peter
addaction 01-01-2002, 04:32 PM VBulletin Lite is real easy to install
Follow the links at the bottom of this page and download the free version ;)
Gurudev 01-01-2002, 05:13 PM Ikonboard is fairly easy, may be in 15 min. max. With any board you install I assume you need to spend at least a few minutes to setup.
