Michael Bashar 07-28-2004, 02:36 PM www.register.it one example .it is already high :) www.nic.it their main wbesite. Goldwing 07-28-2004, 04:13 PM http://domains.aruba.it is the cheapest place I know but have never used them 777 07-30-2004, 12:53 PM Aruba are by far the cheapest but their support isn't the greatest. Register.it are better but dearer. I think that makes sense, doesn't it? yd0web 07-30-2004, 01:44 PM hmm, what about .sc domains?? Goldwing 07-30-2004, 02:04 PM Originally posted by yd0web hmm, what about .sc domains?? Hmmmm.... coming from Scotland this was promoted as the "Scottish" domain - what a load of bollox, after reading over the terms and conditions for .sc I smiled and walked away smelling another .uk.co The main registry is http://www.nic.sc/ - do yourself a favour and read the terms and conditions, unless you live in the Seychelles you are a second class registrant. I.E It is our policy to administer the domain name is such way to for the benefit of the Seychelles and hence we have set policies benefit the people of the Seychelles. We have given priority to local requests compared to any international clients requests. demonmoo 07-31-2004, 12:56 AM Originally posted by Goldwing I.E It is our policy to administer the domain name is such way to for the benefit of the Seychelles and hence we have set policies benefit the people of the Seychelles. We have given priority to local requests compared to any international clients requests. That makes perfect sense. It's a ccTLD , which means its there for the benefit of the country. Like for example only certain organizations can register .ca's (have to meet canadian residency requirement). Bashar 07-31-2004, 01:42 AM most countries require local presence to register their ccTLDs like .kw for example you need to be a registered company in kuwait to get .com.kw or an individual with civil ID (like SSN in states) Goldwing 07-31-2004, 07:47 AM Many ccTLD's are dropping the archaic registrtion requirements and opening up their registries e.g .fr .it are changing requirements. .SC was different in that there was disparity in pricing and requirements depending if you were a citizen or external. Priority was given to residents, I could never get a straight answer to what would happen if a resident wanted a domain I had registered, e.g. would I be able to renew it at renewal time. Take a look at the web site www.nic.sc the terms are ambigious at best in that the UDRP conflicts with their goals. BTW I live in a ccTLD and have many years registry experience and well versed in the idiosyncracies of many of the registries, this one IMO however had the smell of uk.co of previous years. Demonmoo & Bashar There is a huge leap of faith from "domiciliation" to "given priority" and my beef with the registry ( about 3 years ago) is that they would not qualify what this meant.
