I have a little problem on my raq3...

I have a pop account, nig@ssmofo.net and an account at bobbyt@bobbyt.com with the alias nig
When I send mail to nig@bobbyt.com (or nig@any-domain-on-my-box) it ends up going to nig@ssmofo.net. It does that weather or not the bobbyt.com account has a nig alias. How can I make sendmail stop using domains on a global scale like that? I know this is possible and has something to do with the virtualusertable. I just don't know how to fix it. Do all raqs allow this by default? Or did mine just start to flake?

You can see how this would be a problem, a lot of the domains on my box have aliases like 'webmaster' and 'sales' if someone goes and creates a user under one of those domains, they end up accepting it for ALL domains and stealing other people's mail. Plus since users have access to that raq control panel they can add/delete users under whatever name they enter and cause major problems. help?

No this isn't normal, but I don't know how to fix it. You could check the cobalt mailing list to see if there is a mention of it there. I'll be watching the thread to learn how to fix this however.

bobbyt, this definitly will not fix the origin of your problem, but it may be of some help: we've got a policy that all user accounts have to be named like domainXX whereas domain is the domainname (or shortage of) and XX a number 00 to 99.

ie. sample.com has pop accounts sample00 to sample99, so we
1.) don't run into problems different vsites wanting to have a pop account called office, info, etc. and
2.) it's likely too that other domains don't have an alias sample00...

I believe this is normal behaviour for Raqs (and for sendmail). Simply put, sendmail wasn't designed to handle virtual hosting, and even now does so very poorly. If you want to handle stuff like this properly, use qmail... on the other hand, if you were comfortable with qmail, you probably wouldn't be on a raq to begin with.

it's virtusertable database was corrupt. rebuilt it from the config file and I was up and running again. No problems and no it isn't normal for a raq to do this ;)
