View Full Version : Spammers!! and my forum profile

Just got off of AIM with someone that leached IM names from this forum.
I'm about ready to take that information out of my profile.

If I'm running a hosting company, and doing well; why would I want to switch to a datacenter with spam tactics?

Common Sense? Ah... So you enjoy receiving tons of ads in your email, and to your instantmessaging system... If so, then you must be the only one that does...

Do unto others as you want done to you :D

In that way, people that actually want to talk with you, talk with you.

Or contact people who ask in the requests forums who wish to be contacted. Do some research on the client before hand, don't just be like a telemarketer.

hehe telemarketers are fun to screw around with. I always act like I'm gonna go with them, and then back out at the last second and start asking them more questions about their service. Usually not wasting my time considering all I do is sit on my computer and play Operation Flashpoint, or Motorcity Online.

lol, a couple of times I said, "wrong number", they were like "Uhh, no"

Once I said I was about to commit suicide so I didn't need to get more long distance, unless you can talk me out of it :).

This was one of my favorites... I think I read it on a website somewhere but it worked well:

Me: Is this a marketing call?

Marketer: umm... yes sir it is...

Me: Great! Have I got an offer for you, it's a wonderful product called the ear cushion! The ear cushion slips over the ear peice of your phone and allows for more comfortable talking all day long. It's a must for Secertaries, Telemarketers, and anyone who uses the phone on a regular basis. It is only $19.95! Would you be interested in purchasing one today?

Marketer: ummm... not really. Actually I don't like my job but I am only doing it for the extra money.

Me: Ok, have a nice day!

*Click*

She never called back. Selling them something is fun :)

Are you an idiot? A fellow host complaining about someone publicly in a forum? Who would want to host with someone who uses slander to gain more exposure for their company? I certainly wouldn't touch your company with a 10 foot pool. Jesus man someone contacted you to see if they could help you save money, I guess you don't need to save money pulling up in your modena to your 50bedroom home on the beach.

Let's be clear:

slan·der
n.

1.Law. Oral communication of false statements injurious to a person's reputation.
2.A false and malicious statement or report about someone.

The key word in both of those definitions is false. SoftWareRevue hasn't made anything up. DPlay did send him an unsolicited advertisement and admits to it.

Oh -- and where in his post was SoftWareRevue trying to gain exposure for his company?? He didn't give any information about promotions or plans. He doesn't even mention the company except in his signature which appears at the bottom of every one of his 2389 posts. He didn't need to post this one to "gain exposure."

It always makes me wonder when someone uses their very first post to defend someone who has offended people.

Even if this isn't a case of DPlay starting another user, it is my experience that only spammers think spam is ok, so I wouldn't touch either of them with a ten foot "pool" as hosting customers anyway... no big loss. :)

Checked account, you don't have to wonder.

Dplay, make sure you only contact people who request information or post a request in the request forum please.
