Is there something I can do to get it back? My old host is being very very un-cooperative when I say I want my login and stuff. They registered it for me in June.

If the administrative contact email is accesssible by you, a transfer to another registrar is the best option, if nothing works. DPlay 12-28-2001, 08:27 AM what do you mean? - they dont replay at all - or refuse to help you? Pilgrim 12-28-2001, 08:46 AM Hi Calintz, Assuming this is about the site yuuna.org, also assuming that your email address is eddiekoo@lahlah.net..... If above assumptions are right then you now have an email from godaddy in your mailbox with your login details. Go to https://registrar.godaddy.com/login.asp?target=mngAcct&isc=&tSec=True&tQS= , login and change your DNS servers to your new host. If only just one of the above assumptions is NOT right, I have been extremely unhelpful as always ;) Calintz 12-28-2001, 10:20 AM The problem is, I bought the domain with them. THey use their email, add etc. to register it. So whenever I wanna change host, I gotta ask them to change it for me. But the last time I tried, they use about 5 days to reply and several days to change my DNS >_< {NIRMANI} 12-28-2001, 12:08 PM Ask them to change the info to you. Still a transfer will do the trick. Eryxma 12-28-2001, 12:11 PM Or better, if you have your NAME trademarked, you can go ahead and sue them :) Vector@rmf 12-28-2001, 12:15 PM I had the same problem with the terrible host CWIhosting.com, where they took weeks to finally transfer my domain under my name. If I am correct, the hosts register the domain for you, but you still are the owner. However, they must transfer the domain to u, and the process is really annoying as hell, so I learned from there that I should always register a domain myself, or let a host do it for me ONLY if they are a reliable company. I just want my domain back. But it's registered for a year. So this also means I gotta wait till the date due for me to re-register again? Vector@rmf 12-28-2001, 12:17 PM No, tell them u want the domain transferred under your name, not theirs. They should do that for u immediately. So this also means I gotta wait till the date due for me to re-register again? {NIRMANI} 12-28-2001, 12:21 PM Initiate a transfer to a new registrar & ask your host to approve it. It's that simple. If you wait till it expires you might not get it. 1. Some registras do NOT release domains when expired. They hold it for some time. 2. Anybody can register it when it is freely available. SoftWareRevue 12-28-2001, 12:21 PM Right. Just tell them to list you as the Administrator. Then you can do what you will with it. Eryxma 12-28-2001, 12:33 PM This a host shouldn't do, they might do this IF they sell it to you for a cheap price because they get so many domains together to buy it in bulk and they and you getter cheaper, this is the only reason host do this. But if he did this he can't change it to your name, because you will also have acess to other domains to manage. So because it is his fault he did this, he could pay the $40 transfer fee so it could belong to you, and I do not think they will go this far. What they would end up doing is maybe you will have to e-mail them everytime you need a DNS change or something like that, but if you want your e-mail changed there is NO way they can do this, because it will cause them to give you access to many other domains if they bought in bulk and their registar is GoDaddy software. All I can say is good luck. Calintz 12-28-2001, 01:37 PM I think Eryxma is correct. There's no way they'll let me be the admin >_<. I've asked like a dozen times to let me my login and password but they just avoided the mails..... How do I initiate a transfer to a new registrar ? {NIRMANI} 12-28-2001, 01:42 PM You may find a link for starting a transfer in most of the registrars web sites. hayes 12-28-2001, 05:59 PM who is the registrar? is it opensrs? netsol? you can go right to the source to get the info that you want. This will also get some pressure on the host to release the domain name. |
