My recommendation...

Spend a few dollars more and choose a trusted registrar. WIth particular reference to domainsarefree, they have just popped up, and I hear a few people are having problems with them. I know $4 sounds great, but you can never be too careful with your prized domains.

I think registarars with renewal prices very different than for new registrations shouldnt be trusted. so I second professor! but not for the same reason.

you might end up paying $25 or so as transfer out fee, add couple of dollars and use trusted registrar.

unless they clearly state u can transfer away without any problems.
