Hi everyone,
I've been perusing the forums and I must acknowledge how helpful it is to read about different solutions to problems, etc.
Anyways, I've been working on setting up an e-store and am at the final stages ( I think) of setting up the payment solution.
I am stumped as to if I should use a shopping cart or use what is provided by 2CO, (yeah ive seen mixed reviews about them, but I think they were my best option for the time being).
What has your past experience been and how would u suggest I go about setting all of this up?
Thanks alot :)

Welcome to the forums Cat!
I would suggest always using your own shopping cart is that is an option. You control the database, etc. The more you control the better. A lot of shopping carts are compatible with 2CO.
Thanks!
which one would u suggest is the easiest or best for a novice like me to set up?
Ive heard of oscommerce. But i have no idea where to begin with it.

Hello Catherine,
Welcome to WHT. OScommerce would be a very optimal solution for what you have in mind. It supports popular payment gateways, including 2CheckOut and PayPal.
It is also free, which is a major plus. Download is free, but unfortunately I don't know how to install it.
PS: Would anyone here be kind enough to step up and help out the lady? ;)
Best,

We refer our clients over to http://oscommerce.snappyserver.com/ for oscommerce hosting / setup. There is also Zen cart, which is supposed to be a little easier. I have no idea about PHP what-so-ever, only enough to get me into real big trouble :)
So I've downloaded OScommerce. Now I have to learn all this database stuff. Any tips?
I don't really understand how it all works together, and would be interested in learning.
Hope someone will share their knowledge
:)

:) Not from me. LOL, I had to help someone the other day finalize an integration first time I really looked at PHP code. You might also review osCommerce's forums as well.
And you might post something in the programming forum about mySQL - there are a lot of great PHP people in there.
Thanks Corey, will do!
It's amazing how much stuff there is to learn once you start.
mb one day ill have some advice to show myself. ;)

:) I am sure you will. We all keep learning something every day. Good luck with the cart!
