OK, it is not a rackmount server, but well ... it is a damn small PC that comes allready with motherboard, graphic card and LAN (even firewire).
how many would fit in a U4 slot? The Dimensions: (L)270mm x (W) 190mm x (H)160mm
Put a PIII 1 Ghz, 1 GB RAM and a 60 GB HD into that nice Aluminum Case and you have a great server for less than $550.
what do you think? :cartman:
Fiber 12-27-2001, 10:09 PM That's about a 3-4U Slot, and put about 2 in there. 3 is 21 inches, and won't fit in a 19" rackmount.
2 is 14".
190mm is 7.48031496063

I may build it for desktop use since it looks neat and all but it won't hold my DVDRom and CDRW :(
edit:
As we found out, this makes a great "living room," or "average use" PC. It also makes a great "TV PC." If the applications you use most include Office, Internet Explorer, Netscape, Winamp, ICQ, AIM, etc, you're fine. Of course, you're probably fine with just about any computer out there.
I may not trust this as a server after all although I dreamt of putting 2 of these on a rack :)

Turn 'em sideways and they're 160mm and 3 is 18.89 inches, hmmmm add mounting brackets and you've got a 19 inch rack mount solution! and 7.5 inches tall, is that 4 or 5u?

would just be interesting if they are any heating problems if your run such a machine 24/7
anyone going to try it? :D

Not if I were serious about it, I'd get 5 of these instead:

As a play toy I might get 3 of them and screw around while using them as replacements for desktops (or selling them off).

What kind of cases are those? They seem to be Chenbro's.
Rewdog 12-28-2001, 11:51 PM But I like my 4 foot tower at home :) .
I say find a rack mountable case, sell it for 200 bucks more and make more money :).
