View Full Version : My car & I need to go to the store!
SoftWareRevue 12-27-2001, 02:24 PM It's been snowing here for a few days. :(
There was, finally, a break in the action. So I decided to go to the store.
Problem is, I'm having a hard time making it to my car. (see attached photo)
When I took the picture; the sun was shining.
Now it's snowing again. They say they don't know when it will stop. Maybe next weekend; maybe in a couple weeks. Snow everyday. :(
Maybe I should wait until spring to go to the store.
Jason Ellis 12-27-2001, 03:18 PM Heh... that scene looks *very* familiar to me (having flashbacks of last winter). Fortunately we don't generally get hit with the bad storms until January/February.
You wouldn't happen to be in upstate New York, would you? The weather says it's been snowing there for days.
Chicken 12-27-2001, 03:32 PM Yeeeeeeeeeup, it is close to that here too... brrrrrrrr....
MarcD 12-27-2001, 03:36 PM *hmmm saves image as a reason to use a sick day for work next time it snows *
order pizza till u can get out and ask for extra napkins in case u are out of toilet paper also
=)

I'm in south western Michigan Jason Ellis.
MarcD, good idea. Could really test that 30 minutes or free theory.
And; err . . . yeh . . . napkins is one reason I needed to go to the store anyways. :D
Dylan 12-27-2001, 04:29 PM Talking about cars, the spark plugs in my car usually get changed when I take my car in for a service but this time I went to a parts centre and bought the sparg plugs myself.
Problem is, they asked if I want leaded or unleaded.
Are they talking about leaded and unleaded oil or leaded and unleaded petrol?
My car takes unleaded petrol, so I said unleaded.
After all that, it wasn't the spark plugs. I had a spark leak. Had to replace the one spark plug wire. What makes it worse is that nobody, not even the local agent, had the correct wire. I had to settle for a wire from some other car (which I'm not happy about). Really, you must look at the difference between the wires, it's like comparing oranges to naartjies.
Getting back to oil, is there leaded and unleaded?
NetXL 12-27-2001, 07:00 PM Your car looks like some kind of new jag under that snow Dennis.
:stickout
Planet Z 12-27-2001, 07:06 PM I feel your pain. We hit the low 70s today. Brrrrrrr... this winter weather is killing me.
:D

:stickout I'll "dig out" a picture of it when it's not burried under tons of snow.
Planet Z . . . . :stickout
cbaker17 12-27-2001, 09:46 PM Good luck getting the thing to start even if you do dig it out, i had a fiero for my first card ever, biggest piece of crap i have ever had, IT CAUGHT FIRE TOO!!!! I hear the all are crap.... anyhow..
SoftWareRevue 12-27-2001, 10:20 PM I think you're having a bad day Charles. sheesh
Cars, like businesses, can vary in results.
I hear of so many piece o crap hosts. Does that mean you all are?
This particular Fiero was purchased by a long time friend of mine. Then I brought it from her. It had the fix as soon as the fire thing was noticed. It is a six cylinder with some modifications we don't need to go into. And although it's buried so far under snow I can't see it, it'll start.
I'm not going to go on about it. Suffice it to say that, just because you had a bad experience with something, don't ASSume everyone does.
Kylecool 12-27-2001, 10:50 PM ROTFLMAOPMP on the SNOW picture. Quite Hilarious I might add. The pic Chicken has is one similar to what mine would be, as we live quite close to each other. It's nice weather here in CA. :)

ProSam 12-27-2001, 11:39 PM LMAO. That was me last year as well. Hope it isn't that bad this year.
Adi-2k1 12-28-2001, 01:09 AM I'm in texas. Guess what the weather here is like.
I'm sick of wearing shorts and t-shirts. It get's really boring after a while. I want snow!!!!!!
bitserve 12-28-2001, 04:16 AM I'm in SE Michigan, and although there's snow on the ground, it's not nearly as bad here, yet. And I'm glad. I generally like snow, except when I have to travel.
My parents had two fieros. My dad works for GM, and he's a big fan of the little sports cars. They only have one left. They always seemed reliable, but hard to get parts anymore. So if you wreck it, you can say goodbye.
Evelyn 12-28-2001, 06:59 PM I know exactly how you feel, Chicken. It even got down to the low 50s one night around where I am. Now that was cold.
(This picture was taken sometime during the first week of December.)
Rewdog 12-28-2001, 07:01 PM its 6 pm here in South Carolina, and at a freezing 58 degrees. How can I live!
IGobyTerry 12-28-2001, 07:18 PM hmm it's 27F and cloudy. We also have a good 2 inches of snow here.
Cyber 12-28-2001, 07:32 PM I'm on Long Island. No SNOW YET!!!!!!!!!!! I WANT SNOW!!!!! NOW!
oh well, looks like a gotta wait :(
Brian Farkas 12-28-2001, 08:34 PM Yeah, this CA weather sure is rough.. Chicken/Kyle-- what part of CA are you from?
Kylecool 12-28-2001, 08:38 PM I think Chicken is near Redondo Beach. I'm in the San Fernando Valley. ;)
-Kyle
Rehan 12-28-2001, 09:06 PM Be thankful you're not in Buffalo, NY....they've received almost SEVEN FEET of snow this week!
Chicken 12-28-2001, 09:26 PM Yes, I'm 'Manhattan Beach adjacent' heh... sounds better :D Basically where the 91 hits the sand. Evelyn seems to be @ 605 & 10 area. It seems to always be a bit cooler here than in other parts. A friend in Moreno Valley says that during the summer, if he goes outside his clothes almost catch on fire. Never quite that bad this way.
bitserve 12-28-2001, 10:51 PM Argh. Snowed lots today.
Fish_Saver 12-28-2001, 11:22 PM About time you guys down in Kalamazoo got your fair share.

It gets kinda HOT here in the valley too. Quite cold a little bit lately, but compared to the places where it snows so much, this is nothin'! ;)

Although, it's after 1:00am in the morning, it's 28f outside.... no snow though.... during the day it's been around 35f.

Pretty much. I'm in the LA area, and I think that's near there. 605 is Long Beach-ish, right? Lol. I should know this stuff. I'm a SoCal girl.
Nordic 12-29-2001, 11:45 AM Dylan,
unleaded goes with fuel/petrol, oil is either mineral or synthetic :)

IGobyTerry 12-29-2001, 12:19 PM I think spoke too soon in my last post. Today it is 20 outside at 11AM and we have a foot of snow. Luckily we have all 4-wheel drive vehicles so I don't have to go out and shovel at all.
SoftWareRevue 12-29-2001, 12:59 PM :( More last night. Calling for another foot today :(
They still don't know when (if ever) it will stop. :(
I live in what they refer to as the "snow belt" in this state.
Winds coming over Lake Michigan pick up moisture and hammer us at times. :(
This seems to be one of those times.
bobcares 12-29-2001, 01:01 PM Wow, I'm in god's own country... :)
It's 25 degrees C here...
Warm and peaceful...
I wish you guys could come here and chat ..... :)
Have a great new year...
Regards
amar

Actually 605/10 is West Covina area. If you're in Long Beach, you're about 20 minutes down the 405 from me. Years ago (many many many years), I went to CSULB (during the days that Sublime was going there and playing at the campus pub).

:erm: You're right. For someone who had to battle the 405 all summer long, I should know what it's called. I do live closer to the 605 than 405, though.
But Highways are all the same. Crowded and congested. That's LA traffic for you.

Yup, LA traffic
Took me 9 hours to drive to San Francisco a couple days ago; actually I was stuck on the 101 for more than 2 1/2 hours between LA and Santa Barbara...BTW, what they have in San Francisco is rain, rain, and more rain. That was hooooorrible

-Kyle

Yes, every weather report in Michigan begins and ends with "Lake effect snow forcasted".
