I second ClamAV it is great. I used it for mail scanning mainly. Works well on production servers

mailscanner+clamav is a pretty formidable combination. check out hostinglife.com for more info.

Yeah. I used to use Mailscanner but now I have converted all my servers to exiscan

If you use Sendmail, ClamAV has a milter interface too. It works very nicely in my experience.

how does exiscan work?
does it work like clamav?
can i run both of them together?

exiscan is like mailscanner. exiscan can work with clamav like mailscanner with clamav. i run both setup on different servers.

We use ClamAV on our production servers which handle a load of about 40,000 emails a day (on Sun hardware). Havent had a problem yet.
