Hello,

Sounds like we have some MP3-literate people here. :)

I'm just wondering if anyone knows of any software for Linux in which I could sort of "bleep" out a part of an MP3 ... if any of you are familiar with a song on Pink Floyd's Animals, well, I don't really want that blasting everywhere I go. :)

Any ideas? Thanks. :)

I don't know of any software that directly edits MP3's, either on Win32 or Linux. What you need to do is decode to a wave file, run it through a sound editor to remove the offensive (?) part, and then re-encode it.

I'm certain there are Linux tools to decode and encode MP3's, although I don't know what's available in the way of sound editors. You might look around FreshMeat.net or something.

(Not to say that I approve of bowlderizing Pink Floyd, though... :) )

You might poke around the Multimedia / MP3 section over at http://softwareblast.com/ and similar sites for tools... not positive, but I think I saw a few things over that way that may be of help to you in this.
