The photo could have just been on a stock photo CD that they both used...or one of the sites could have taken it from the other.. :P

Most of the pictures on on webhosting company websites are taken off stock pages like corbis and comstock. If this is the case, then no one is stealing.

If you take a look at the pictures, they are two totally different ones. The one at philtel, the girl is wearing a headset and the arm of the couch shows more. If the girl wasn't wearing a headseat, you may say MCHost stole it from philtel. Still, since it's two different pictures, we can safely say it was taken off a stock photography site and no one is stealing it off each other.

Yeah.. Just because MCHost is a little more known here doesn't mean the other guy is stealing from him

Yeah, my guess is that mchost *must* have stolen it from philtel. I must say though, they did a splendid job of enlarging the image, making it crisp and increasing the resolution, removing all the text and the headset...

People shouldn't even get all worked up about it if it does not even concern their site (not specifically directed at you Mahinder)

If you do stumble across something like this, let both parties invoved know, if you feel that is your duty.

If both hosts don't care, neither should we. Saves a lot of posts. ;)

It's just that I've recently seen some kind of a witch hunt on the subject.

They are licensed from tonystone.com. Depending on the photo, its between $90 and $800+ per license. And i don't think its a good idea to steal photos if you don't have a license, because you could get into trouble if it is reported to the copyright holder, even if you're in a different industry :)

You wouldn't leave the same website up for 12+ months, right? ;)
