The only experience I have with OLM is that I almost signed up with them, and thus checked them out pretty well. They were one of my final two choices at the time (I picked the other one, which turned out to be not-so-good).

I monitor a list of their users, and there are few comlaints. There are problems here and there, but due to some very nice support people who go out of their way (even monitoring this user mailing list!), they are looked into and resolved.

I can't comment on cedant, since I've heard nor read nor remember much about them.

Cedant they were fantastic and really fast with tech support ..The reason I left was it cost too much to host multiple domains which is what I grew into:)

I use to host with OLM and they are great, their support staff are very helpful. Also they have very good reliability, and a decent control panel.

Hi there -

My experience with Cedant was pretty positive, with the exception of when I cancelled my acount.

I had prepaid my accounts and was told that I would receive a refund for the unused time still remaining...

The main problem I'm having right now is that I've been hassling the billing department for a breakdown of exactly what I've been refunded for (i.e. how much time they believe I still had remaining)... as the amount i got back doesn't jive with what I was expecting.

Alas, four e-mails have fallen on deaf ears. I'm still waiting for them to get back to me.

Besides that, tech support was good and uptime wasn't terrible - the transfer of my domain to their servers was a bit slow as they neglected to refresh their DNS until I bugged them about it, and they had around an hour of downtime total out of the three months I hosted with 'em.

I should note that part of the downtime affected most of the Alabanza hosts, so I can't blame Cedant for this...

Hope this helps!

Neil

I have just had a nightmare with an OLM reseller.

I had a busy forum that generated a lot of small text files. All of a sudden, without warning, they decided to enforce a limit of 2500 files per 50 MB account. By that time, I had over 7000 files in the account (which only took up 28 MB). All my cgi scripts, including the forum, stopped working. I couldn't even carry out site admin duties as I couldn't write anything to the hard drive without deleting something first.

What makes this particularly bad is that the file limit is not mentioned in the resller's terms of service, nor anywhere else on their web site.

If you do go for OLM, I'd check with them whether this limit is stipulated by them or the reseller.

I believe that is an OLM thing. Seem to recall something about that mentioned on the mailing list a bit ago.
