I think a great way to make money is to open up your own ostrich farm. Ostrich meat tastes like beef and is a lot more healthy you know?

See, then you can sell each ostrich for around $1000. Each ostrich lays 10 eggs and pretty soon you'll be a millionaire.

The only way to get rich is to learn from others. You would be surprised what you can learn from a street stall merchant, you learn the art of haggeling. Bartender teaches you how to listen to your customers and when to stop pouring the drinks ( cover your ass from the liability ). Taxi cab driver teaches you the art of fast moving and striking quickly when oppertunity is there. Surf or ice fishing teaches you how to wait for the bite. dog walker teaches you how to control the crowd. Street preachers teach you how to sell a crowd. I can go on and on.

So I'm sure that there is alot of millionares around here.

Sorry. What people are really saying here is that you can't make a million dollars in a month - no matter what sofware you have written. That's the reply to the original poster.

Now whether or not Gates will drop by is another question. I can't see that we would be able to entice Billy to visit, but you never know.

If you are talking about people with a net worth of over a million dollars, there are certainly some here. Some of us are not 22 and have had say 44 years to accumulate it...

Sorry, but for some reason I think you never made a million. Ask any millionaire and he/she will tell you that making the first million was harderst and then on it's never as hard as making the first.

By the way, going back to the original topic - if you start thinking how you can make a million everyday or every month, chances are you will never make it, unless you win a lottery or something else happens by luck or by chance. Ask that question to any millionaire and he/she will tell you that too.

not true. there were some guys that I knew at the comex ( the commodities exhange for gold, silver, copper in NYC ) that made or lost 1MM in a day. ) the day the kuwait war started I saw 1 guy loose about 19 million within 15 minutes due to a bad order that he filled. he took the hit and made most of it back that very day.

S&P traders that are good can make upwards of 20k per week without any real problems and no overnight holding of contracts. some guys can make upwards of 100k per week, but I don't have the guts that they have to withstand the drawdowns.


He could try also some option contracts that he thinks a stock will pop on. easy way to turn 10K into 80k within a 2-week time frame ( but he's going to need luck )

I've been trading futures and option contracts for about 17 years, and I got to say you have to have the common sense to know when to close your position otherwise you will take a beating.

back to the topic.. it's not what you know but who you know. And eith regards to the fact that you know heaps of programming languages and net stuff - no insult but so what. I'm sure half the people here can too. The industry is not like it used to be. Before if you knew what a megabyte meant, you'd be rich.. now every cat and his dog knows how to program. The hardest part is the idea .. but it doesn't end there. You could have the greatest idea and still be a poor bugger. What you also need is the right support and the right marketing plan to get your product out. What you also need is superior management skills (either from yourself or from your support staff) and then you need to have good financial accounting skills cos remember that kick arse video card company that went bankrupt cos they couldn't keep their books right?
