Does anyone have any suggestions for Colocation in the UK? I have looked at fasthosts, anyone use them?

Colo in the UK is not cheap, if it is on the same sort of price scale as dedicated servers in the UK then you need to have a big wallet. We were quoted £1100 (about $1600) a month for a decent dedicated server in the UK.

The bandwidth in the UK is just not up to scratch either, I mean some hosting companies in the UK shout about having an 8MBit line and 3 2MBit lines, wow a total of 14MBit - Not very fast at all when you consider OC3 is 155MBit.

OK...... do people have suggestions for a Win2K dedicated box, apart from RackSpace & DN. OR can I colo in the US, even though I don't live there (I guess its just the shipping costs), if so who would you recommend?

I'm mainly looking for quality of service. For example, I'm quite happy to pay a premium if the colo company can prove physical network uptime (as compared to server uptime, as its my box).

As a suggestion, I would look at http://www.ultraservers.co.uk. I host with their US company Ultraspeed and have been very happy so far. The prices are very competitive and their customer service is up their with Rackspace and what Alabanza used to be.

I would say use http://www.lighthouseservers.com think thats right.

Cheapest Uk host i've found im guessing they have servers in the usa though cos they give 50gb.

I would be a bit sceptical of lighthouseservers.com seen as there SSL certificate is one they have issued themselves (VBCnet - who I have never heard of before never mind hearing of them in an SSL issuing roll).

Depending on wallet size, http://www.above.net/ they have a uk division.

You can colocate a server anywhere, the US server market is cheaper, I know we have servers colocated in our facility from england, UK, all over. The biggest problem you might run into is payment options.
