Fallus 11-06-2000, 07:55 AM I'm happy :)
I just got my new dedicated server... after reading around here, looking into sites such as uk2.net and others... I finally decided to go for atjeu.com
they made me a special deal, but bascically I have the $99 basic linux server, with less bandwidth, but a little cheaper... (I don't need 25 gig bandwidth yet, I settled for 10gig)
my server was set up in a couple of hours after I ordered.
so far, the server seems to be running fine, I'm having some admins I know configure it to suit my needs.
As far as I can tell, the people of atjeu are very nice, and their services seem to be good value for money. But off course, I've only had the server for a couple of hours... but so far, so good...
so if you're looking for a server for around $99 (I know there are more people around here that would like this), I can recommend atjeu.com. I hope I won't have to change my mind about this... (and no, I dodn't work for atjeu, I'm just making some promotion for them here, to thank them for their services, which I think are pretty good...)
Chicken 11-06-2000, 11:03 AM Fallus, keep us posted! -Yes you are right, there are plenty of people looking for inexpensive dedicated solutions and I'm sure they will want to hear updates good and bad!
cbaker17 11-06-2000, 10:20 PM Bless you!!
fallus 11-08-2000, 04:33 PM old joke...
cbaker17 11-08-2000, 09:03 PM How was I supposed to know it was old, perhaps I should have done a search for bless you :)
fallus 11-09-2000, 05:11 AM you wouldn't have found anything... last time, they said 'gesundheit' or something... search for atjeu :p
Chicken 11-09-2000, 10:34 AM Fallus has been a lurking guest for some time! Yep... just curious fallus, why don't register after all this time? Registration would give ya' the ability to your edit posts, etc.
4 out of 5 dentists recommend registering. We had the other one killed.
fallus 11-10-2000, 02:57 PM actually, I'm pretty new... I just did a search for atjeu a few days ago, and stumbled upon that old thread. I don't need to edit my posts, or delete them, but will register...
I'm still happy with atjeu.com, except fro the fact that their network doesn't seem to be that good... there were a couple of times I tried to reach the server, and couldn't (problem was always solved after 5 mins, but still)... so if uptime is critical, you might want to look for another host... if you want an inexpensive dedicated server for learning purposes, and to put a couple of sites online, then atjeu might be what you need.

Ahhh welcome then!
diyoha 11-12-2000, 03:24 PM When I was doing my research for a dedicated host they were on top of the list in terms of price.
My main issue with them was their connection to the internet. When I contacted them they told me they had multiple T1's. That is not great ... although it depends on how many servers they have on the lines. So I decided not to take the risk and to go elsewhere :(
I am now with dedicatedhosting.com which is working out great so far ... although I am paying more per month.
so keep us posted!
later
David
last week they seemed to have some problems (something that wasn't even their fault, I don't remember all the details, I can post them when I get home if you like), but all seems to be solved now.
From here in Belgium, the download speed is pretty good. At worst, I download at around 10kb/sec from the server, but sometimes it goes up to 40k/sec. Keeping in mind that the server is located in the USA and I live in Belgium, that isn't so bad I think...
Anyway, this week I haven't experienced any problems or downtime, and I'm very pleased with the server. It only has 32mb ram, 10gig hd, 10gig xfer and 1 ip, but for now, that's just what I need. I can upgrade later... (and probably will) - I can even send them my own hardware which they will install. (If I ask them to upgrade the RAM, it will cost me $50 extra pm, but if I send it over, I guess I will just have to pay for the installation of the RAM)
So, if you're looking for a cheap server that's good value for money, I would recommend atjeu.com ...
any questions? :p
btw, someone else registered with my nick? (it said 'wrong password'...)

Yes, fallus is a registered user name (registered 11/10 - no posts)
SI-Chris 11-18-2000, 08:25 PM The Atjeu website looks good, except that on their page listing Cobalt RaQs it says:
"We cant get any Cobalt in any configuration or you."

Kinda spooky eh? :) Has someone emailed that typo to them yet?
kunal 11-19-2000, 04:56 AM hehehe.... Me is gonna stay away from those guys. :D
phallus 12-01-2000, 04:02 AM kunal : you shouldn't stay away from them! atjeu.com is great.
there was one period, the first week I had the server, that I noticed some slight problems, but appart from that, it has been great! The last couple of weeks I never had any problems.
yesterday I managed to download at over 200kb/s from my server with FTP - and remember, I live in Belgium and the server is very far from here. So I think that's a very good connection speed. (off course I have a pretty good connection myself, otherwise I wouldn't have been able to download at that rate...)
My experience with atjeu.com has been very good, and I could reccomend them to everybody. Also, they always answer my mails, right after I send them...
kunal 12-01-2000, 04:06 AM Phallus, I was just kidding after reading that quote from there site. :) Nothing else. :)

Are you still with them, how is your server going?
I emailed them about a quote and they emailed me back in a few mins I am seriously thinking about going with them.
JDMundo 10-08-2002, 05:08 AM Woah, old thread brought to life! :-)
I have a server with them, and couldn't be happier. Excellent network, responsive support, and very reasonable pricing.
