Someone on another board suggested I come over here and that someone here may be able to help me. I'm new and I've been searching for somewhere to host my site. The major things that I would need are 40-60 MB of space and about 4-6 GB of bandwidth per month and one FTP account. If there is a free host out there I would like the option of paying to have ads removed. And for a paid host, $5-8 a month would be what I would want to pay. I don't know if I'm asking too much for too little, but that's not my major problem. I'm sure there are a few hosts out there that offer this, but my problem is that I own a fan site that includes pictures and sounds (.WAV files) that were taken from the television. Most hosting sites will not either support these sound files or allow them on their servers. I have tried for several months to contact the copyright holders asking for permission and have never heard back from them one way or the other. I am going to keep contacting them until they answer me, but is there anywhere at all that I would be able to put my site without getting into trouble in the meantime. Everything is for personal/entertainment uses only and no profit is being made so if I can get by with a hosting provider with the Fair Use policy of the copyright law, that'd be great. I have my site with Geocities right now. But I've run out of space and they only allow 3 GB of bandwidth per month for their free service and I'd have to pay $8.95 a month for only 25 MB of space. And Spaceports seems very strict about the whole copyright thing and I don't want my site taken down. Any help or suggestions that anyone could give me, I would really appreciate it. Thanks a lot.

by the way, for free hosting, go to freewebspace.net/forums

For file storage, you can store all the files at yahoo briefcase. put files in pubic folders and everyone can get them.

Hi,

I checked out your page and I do not think that you should have to worry about copyright too much. There is no comercial value on these sounds.

My best bet is that the reason why they never answered your questions about the copyright is because they don't care.

Very decent of you to ask though!
