Just looked at this deal, and was wondering whether they are for real, cause this deal seems too good to be true

I'd suspect they're using Rackshack, as am I, and here's the traceroute:

Yep they are.

So now you know a good bit. They're probably using a white box Rackshack server, the best config (from memory) is 2x40 gig harddrives and 300G transfer. That translates to exactly 20 customers per server if each customer used all that is allowed. Obviously 20 accounts per server is not a good business model ($60 per month profit? no way). So the question is how much overselling will happen.

ok, well they shud probably be ok then, cause I've heard good things from rackshack- hopefully get a server there when I get teh money:)

It's nearly a given, most customers will not use all they "buy" your average hosting customer overbuys as much as your average host oversells.

I'd feel very sorry for 8host if every customer packed their account with 4 gigs of data and proceeded to use 15 gigs of bandwidth each month.

They've got a good deal offered, I'll be getting a white box with as much harddrive as Rackshack allows with my eye on how popular 8host's plans are. I am not and was not knocking their offerings they're priced aggressively and with the right cost structure and support structure it can be leveraged into quite a successful business plan.

I want to see a website that uses 4GB of storage...WoW and transfers less than 15GB monthly...*Shrug*

Btw, They are offering very nice prices

It would be easy to get 4Gb of storage and 15GB....

Take for example a design company that uses the site to transfer/show proofs of their design work... A TIFF at 300 dpi is usually 30 MB a piece :wavey:

I will recommend this host to our design department ;)

They ARE ambitious!

They even have a country list on the top. but it seems they only offer services in US.

by the way, as they said in the ads forum, 8host were in this business from the very beginning, but the domain was registered this year? Why?

And I really want to know what are the known companies that they are hosting.
