Ferman 07-21-2004, 10:34 AM I would like to see a new section called "contact with the staff"
Threads are only viewable by the poster and staff.
Easier to use when compared to the current helpdesk system
phpcoder 07-21-2004, 11:38 AM That would defeat the sole purpose of the helpdesk system which is already very easy to use :)

Incorrect
The helpdesk system is not exactly "easy to use", especially if you use a real browser (IE is not such).
I don't think a "contact the staff" forum is actually necessary however, but a better system (cerberus maybe) is most definitely needed.

Can you expand on this?

Done so a few times actually, in fact it's one of my pet peeves with eKayako.
I use Mozilla, primarily because I've grown used to it over the years between Linux and windows, and it's something I can import bookmarks in.
I've tested this on multiple eK desks, so I know it's not the server or setup there. I've tested this from fresh out of the box (direct install) to used system, and the error still exists.
In EK, using these browsers (esp from an admin interface), the "post a reply" ticket doesn't actually do anything in Mozilla / gecko browsers. However, in IE it does.
This is a classic example of poorly designed software. In this case it's really quite annoying ;) Of coruse, every new eK release brings more bugs for these browsers, some fixes, but more bugs than anything.
Kimmikat 07-21-2004, 01:36 PM I was just checking around in the Helpdesk area in Mozilla and clicking on some things does nothing...just sits there staring at me.
I have a feeling eK concentrates on IE, since that's what most people use. They do need to make their interface work in all browsers. This issue is not just limited to the eKayako software, many sites and other apps also don't function well in anything other then Exploder.

Precisely my point
Some, however don't have the option of IE. For example those using *ix as a primary OS.
Granted, this works in Opera, but the point is that something like a helpdesk shouldn't be forcing someone to use a specific browser, hence the recommendation for another, one which handles all browsers evenly (or so I've seen so far).
Anyways, enough with my thoughts on it.

Interesting, I just switched over and tried (have several browsers installed now) and got the same 'nothing' result. Never realized that was the case. :eek2:
We should say the helpdesk system is very easy to use, as long as your browser is supported. ;)
Sheps 07-21-2004, 03:17 PM It is a DHTML/Javascript issue that Moz and other browsers do not support. That us my guess anyways.
