Hi all,

If you have nothing else to do can you take the following URL's for a test run. I'm looking at navigation, and obvious screw-ups in non IE 5.5 / 14" monitor / 800x600 setups.

Don't worry if some links are wrong. It's set up to be at the top of my dir, so it'll all come together later. Just checking for usability and load times. Be warned, if you've had a few drinks the flash might play with your head a bit. btw, the flash needs work (a bit empty). The bottom right needs suggestions. Also thoughts on the order page (and feature list pop-ups) would be appreciated, as it's a pretty important part of the whole site *lol*

A 'free resource' listing thing. Need comments regarding color choice. Too bland? The three sections mentioned need to be separated by color, and the grey matches the blue and brown. Maybe it needs something other than that yellow stripe?

I'm thinking or organizing a lot of the FAQ, resource, and general information into a downloadable file. I'm thinking of .pdf, or maybe a .txt file (both are easy enough to print). A good idea?

Alright, I had a quick breeze through....

http://www.akashik.net/aknet : the font for the links/buttons at the top is set at size 1, and I can barely read it. And this is on my 15" 1024X768 monitor. Sorry, but you'll have to make more space and increase it to size 2 so that Mac users and us 'blind dingbats' can actually read the damn thing.

Do we really need a date? ;)

I also got a nice JScript error on the IE5.01 I run :

Lines 20 and 25, char 1 - iedescription is undefined.

The Flash is quite cool, but really weird and waaaaaaay too empty. The lower right section's probably alright, but you might want to make it stand out a bit more by using bolded text to highlight *certain* features.

The guy in the bandanna is quite good, but once is enough on a page (in particular the 'Services' page).

The plans page is great, but the grey border on the left is missing (deliberate?), and the 'Yes' blue color used is quite faint on my monitor. Popups are fine, but even on my BigPond the page did take quite a while to load. :(

The order page is quite fine in terms of usability.

Akashik Design - nah, not too wordy. Quite good. You might wanna use a bit more space between the blocks of text and the bug :) and use a bit of space throughout the site as well. Don't be a lazy arse and not hyperlink the sites you've done ;) In fact you might like to present each site on a separate page by themselves and explain what you did to the site, with a screenshot. That always impresses clients ;)

Resources - hm..... Bit bland, and that yellow stripe stands out like a sore stripe. Maybe need some explanatory text near the top before the Search box.

Search FAQ - probably too wordy down the bottom. Provide some tips to maximise search results. Usability is fine, since search is a search is a search.

Finally, yes, downloading manuals is a great idea. PDF's usually better, though some certainly like DOCS or even better, RTFs (for backwards compatibility).

Overall, great stuff.... Now if you can just fix a few usability nigglies it would be even better...

Thanks. A few of the things you mentioned have gotten me thinking (in particular the font size). I'm so use to designing at 800x600 it's hard to think of higher resolutions sometimes. I think someone here quoted using a 3600 wide screen a while ago *swoon* :)

That services page is something I agree on. (multiple genie guys). I might just split the table in half so he doesn't show up again. *lol* I'll read through it all again in front of Dreamweaver and see what I can come up with *lol* Still got some time till Revecom gets my paperwork.
