Hello,

I have upgraded my IPswitch ws_FTP Server Manager 4.0 to 5.0. Now that I have it up and running and configured the same way (not including the newly added server manager features)... I cannot access my account when I try to log in.

It simply re-displays the login window that asks for my user name and password. I am behind a D-Links Router/firewall but the firewall does not seem to be the problem.

Can anyone help?

I noticed that in order for the server to work both ports 20 & 21 need to be opened. Which they have been with the previous version and prior to a re-formatting of Win XP. However, they are not open now according to some remote port scans I have done with Shields Up.

So perhaps I should also ask: how can i open those ports from behind a Router? I still think the router is innocent here but the ports thing seems to be an issue.

If I type in the FTP: // IP_address of the FTP server from a remote location, Internet Explorer freezes

Can you make any suggestions?
