i have search wht and came up with nothing so i figured that i would ask here --

there is another command for doing whois via telnet but i seem to have forgotten ---if anyone know can you please let me know asap

i try dig but thats not what im lookign for
also this is for a raq3 which whois does not work thru telnet '

For whatever reason, there isn't a whois installed by default on RaQs, I don't know why, just an irritation, but you can throw up a quick php one. I found one at hotscripts, but if you can't find one, I'll look for the one I threw up. Really quick and easy (though web based which isn't what you were looking for specifically).

This problem can be easily solved by installing the whois RPM from the RedHat GNU/Linux distribution:
