I run a small advice website on a hosturbo web server. I was wondering if anybody else was experincing down time with them?

Never tried it, but if you "SEARCH", you should be able to find a lot. what's in my memory was they said they hired some web designer guy who then stole the design from others at least twice and the hosturbo guy refused to do any clarification, but continue the ads on the ads forum.

Just curious, why you didn't ask the question before you sign up? Now you are on their server, you should test everything by yourself, right?

I'm not with them but I think their servers are with BurstNet. Read back through the forums a day or so and you will find some threads about Burst being down. That may be the answer that you are looking for.

There are too many downtimes for the last few weeks. I canceled my account and wrote for refunding paysystems.com. If there are not willing to refund I will inform Visa about this "business".

I have registered with Hosturbo about 2 weeks ago and I have problem when using hosting at Hosturbo too. A lot of down time and I cannot creat mailing list. I have 4 times mailed to support concerning that problem but no response received. So my mailing list, which was created during my previous hosting with another company, is out of operation for a long time.

I cannot be more patient and want to cancel my account and be refunded, but I don't know how to do. Could anyone guide me step by step please!

Thanks!

Hi Sharefile

Thanks for your reply!

Could you please tell me more details about the refund process. Do I have to cancel my account at Hosturbo before requesting for a refund? Must I inform Hosturbo about the refund request?...
Kindly tell me step by step. I don't want to make any wrong step myself.

Thanks again

Just mail to billing@mail.paysystems.com

I mailed:
Dear sirs,

I am a hosturbo.com customer and paid them in advance for one year of hosting. Since 2 days they have disappeared and so has my account. I am suffering financial and reputation loss from this and already signed up with another host.

I called you also and left a message. I demand an instant refund.

Please provide me with all info you need to give me the refund.

Robert Prost

StarGate IT Systems

And they replied:

Dear sir,
We apologise for the inconvenience the delay in service has caused you,and we will be glad to cancel any of the accounts you wish to cancel. You have 3 to date.

Stop doing business with paysystems.com. I think they have a sort of blacklist.

I asked for a chargeback but I canceled my credit card. I'm wonder if I have to suffer another lost!

Actually VISA cannot do anything. Revecoms merchant account is offshore, so visa could care less :)

;) Good news, I have a plan to get my money back. I'm going to call my credit card company which is mastercard. Then I'm going to tell them that I need a chargeback because I haven't used Hosturbo's service.

I registered with them at the end of Oct everything was fine until 2 weeks ago. They kept having lotsa downtime >_<. I'm getting really annoyed and their support is slow or even not available???
I used Visa to apply, how to I get a charge back?

Since I used 2 months of their service, is it possible to claim my money back? Will be be full refund? Or something else? My friend just signed up and she got the payment confirmation but not the account confirmation. That means her payment is clear but haven't touch the service. How does she get her money back since Hosturbo is not responding to her at all?

Please help. Thanks!!

I think you should try and contact hosturbo.com and record that you actually attempted to contact them. If they fail to respond/give you a refund then proceed with a chargeback

I'm pretty lost......I'm Calintz's friend that's having trouble with hosturbo. How do I get in Mastercard to cancel transfer? *confuzzled*.....sorry! I'm not very good at this kinda thing.

Ring up mastercard. Tell them you have a disputed transaction, and tell them that you would like a chargeback issued.

Calintz

I emailed hosturbo.com again and even ICQ them. After that, I contact paysystems. Is that what I should do? Now I should wait?

BTW, does a chargeback cost anything? How do I do it?

Arwen

Thank you Myacen. I just emailed MasterCard.com about the problem hopefully they will email me back. If not then I will give them a ring and ask them for the chargeback.

Well if hosturbo don't respond you have done the correct thing to email paysystems. I guess all you can do is wait now. Chargebacks cost the company involved in this case Hosturbo, but they can appeal the chargeback if they have evidence that you did use the service etc etc.

I see......this is the first time I've wanted hosting. I've contacted MasterCard, Paysystems and Hosturbo thru ICQ. I think I'll just have to wait. I'm not familiar with problems such as these ><
I'm sorry to post so much but I'm worried about how this will turn out.

If you're paying them $19.95 / year then how much can you expect?

i am also stuck in this hosturbo mess. and am still waiting for my money :-(

to get your money back you should do the following, this normally works:

1) Hosturbo has breached their end of the contract, you should try to contact them first to get this fixed. send an e-mail every day to every possible address found on their webpage.

2) if within a reasonable amount of time they don't respond, e-mail paysystems.com and request a refund on behalf of their client. <<<this is where i'm stuck, no response from paysystems yet

3) if paysystems refuses, e-mail them again until they have to call you at home.

4) contact hosturbo once more (or try to) and give them a reasonable amount of time to respond before you file a complaint.
NOTE: Because paysystems.com is listed on your credit card statement they could also be liable for any court action, which means that you should CC the e-mail to hosturbo ;-)

5) if all else fails (and if this is possible...) contact Burst.net (i think that's his provider) and ask them to charge the guy's cc for whatever the customers paid, and mail us(his customers) a check for that amount minus 20% (i'd rather be out $16 than $20, and burst.net gets to keep this 20% profit to cover their costs.)

I pay more than 19.95 I bought the $45 something package. I'll wait till tomorrow if nothing happens, I'll call my bank for a chargeback. That's what I can do now eh?

BTW, I did use their service but for 2 months only and I pay for a year. How will the bank pay then? Me is confused

Most people did use it for only 2 months, and purchased a 1 year service (contract) with them. Under all other precedents, if at ANY time a contract is broken any money involved in the period of that contract is refunded.

So has anyone been able to get on their site lately? I still can't reach my site or my control panel much less hosturbo.com. I did have a friend who was able to access my site last night, but that's all that I know of in terms of getting on.

Has anyone gotten a reply from them?

I'm already narrowing my search down of new hosting companies. I'm going to sign onto one in the next couple days, but I would like to get one more backup of my stuff before I completely cancel with hosturbo.

I've been with the company for about 6 months now and have had hardly any problems until this. For the 6 months of o.k. service that I got, I guess I'm not too bummed about the $30 I spent.

Now it's onto much more reliable service. Thanks for any updates.

Since 10 years ago I have tried many web hosting services: superb.net, hypermart.net, webstream.net, interland.com, webhosting.com, webhostit.com, etc.

Finally I found on HOSTWAY.COM a fast and reliable service.

Best regards to all of you and please have a VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR 2002 YOU AND YOUR FAMILY.

Wow. I'm glad I found this forum and thread! I, too, am one of those unlucky folks suffering finanical and repuation loss from hosturtle, hostrouble, or whatever. Ok, I signed with them a couple weeks ago and had the same fluctuating DNS downtime/uptime. I've send 89435389(exaggerating) emails and no response yet. (What could these guys be doing??? Enjoying pink lemonade at the beach right now??) I also took your guys suggestion and e-mail paysystems for a refund and also I included my paysystems order receipt. Now I'm waiting for a respond from them. I hope everything get straighten out by next week or so.

I'm trying to backup my files now. And does anyone know how to backup mySQL database? Like the easiest way?

Thanks guys!

it's just their DNS server down the host itself is still there by using an IP address but with this host an IP address won't load a web page.

on another note i've sent them about six e-mail's on this problem, and have got no responce whatsoever.

as for a mysql dump logon to telnet and do the following:

mysqldump -uUSERNAME -pPASSWORD database_name > /location/to/dump/database/dumpfile.sql
