Can someone explain on how you can host unlimited domains on one reselling account?
I don't understand how companies offer it.
Or is it because they are playing the number game?
Or is it because all accounts are usually small?
My friend is looking at MChost.com and he has 200 domain that he's gonna put on the $35 account. Those domains consume 10 gigs of mo. bandwidth and take up 300mb of space.
Do they overload servers with hundreds of accounts?
I'm really looking forward into putting those companies under a test and see what happens. Maybe it's a lie after all.
Some help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Heya,
They can provide unlimited domains because you are limited by the reseller plans transfer and storage limits, therefore, it's unlimited until the domains use everything up. You just get what you pay for. Simple as that.
There's no lies with MCHost either, they're a quite solid company, everyone seems to like them.

I understand that accounts are measured upon web space and bandwidth. BUT, if 5 resellers use the same server and each has 100 accounts that already 500 account on one server. What if every account starts to use MySQL and other features, how will the server be able to hold it?
The next thing that comes to my mind is simply over-loaded server, how else would the company make money unless they have 500 or ever 1000 acounts on one server.
(I found my password) :D
Thanks.

I could easily host 2000 five static page sites on a server with no strain on the server if they are low traffic. mThe number of sites on a server is not an issue. The resources they use are and I assume MCHost is not mesuring resources on a per site basis. They should be mesuring it on a per reseller basis. So if all of one reseller's sites add up to too much resource usage they other arrangements would need to be made like an upgrade to a larger account or dedicted server or whatever.
And there are other options then the way MCHost does it. Remarkable Hosting offers vitual private servers where you can load it up with unlimited domains. Except with the VPS from Ensim they actually hard limit your resources so it's impossible for one reseller to use too much of the servers reources. The only person they could affect are themselves.

This clears out many of the questions that I had.
Thanks for the help folks. :D

It's called a server farm, otherwise known as a cluster. Not all domains go on the same machine. The cluster software determines which server has the least load and assigns a doamin and it's account to that machine. The next domain may be on a different machine. It's all done automatically. That's how you can offer unlimited domains....because you have to think multiple machines... At least that's how we are now doing it anyway..
And the reason resellers dont put a limit on domains is because it is easier not to. We for example, can limit either the reseller or their clients, but we dont because it's a b¥tch to do the math and determine what is fair, so most only limit by bandwidth and space..

Hello
We do this sort of plan but rerstrict the number of Mysql databases and POP3 accounts per reseller.
If they go over they must buy another block of space/bandwidth etc.
We put 10 resellers per server with 2GB RAM per server.
No stability issues at all.
Most resellers get between 50 and 150 acxcounts per 500MB block.
