I'm running a small reselling webhosting business and I get requests from customers asking me to help them register a domain.
What would be the proper procedure to do that? Under the Owner/admin/tech/billing, who's information should I put?
Must I give my client, the login/password to the place where I registered from?

depends mainly on how you settle it and where:
if you have a reselleraccount aswell for domainregistrations you can always make an account for the person who asks it with there billing info and such.
with this you can make up your own mind, if you do it like this and you will give them it like this i should put their info at all 4 points.
If you aren't a reseller and don't want to do it like a reseller just put their info at admin/billing and your name at owner/tech.
Hope it's clear :)

I think this could be a problem in the future.
Better put your client at registrant/owner/billing/admin and just put yourself in the tech.
Beside this could make your client happy enough to see their name as the owner and registrant when using the whois information.
In some registrar/reseller, they will keep your account to inform you by email if something happen to domains that you've been registered.

Some hosting providers register them under their
customers' name while others do it under their own
names.
I speculate some do this as a form of "protection"
of their investments (or to put it bluntly, to force the
customer to stay with them). But they still allow their
end customer to use their account.
For me, I'd register it under my client's name,
then as advised above, assign yourself as the tech
contact instead.
Bottom line, it depends on which purpose suits you
better. Good luck! :)

Are you sure?? Depending on your contract with the client, you can name yourself just ANYTHING EXCEPT the registrant (a.k.a. owner).

get your self a reseller account and give our users password to access their domains to change the info.
but basically you can be admin/tech contact and he's billing/registrant
this would be best option that makes them feel safe and secure :)
