View Full Version : What is your DREAM for your Web Hosting Company?

I was just curious, my partner and I like to think about things we could do when we are big like verio ;) (Notice the word DREAM). We come up with things like buying a NBA team and putting our logo in the middle, having a super bowl commercial ect.

Anyhow, the one I think is the coolest, is to buy out a elementary school or some other type of smaller school, but not too small and not very old that isn't used anymore; And turn it into a datacenter. Plenty of places for private rooms, places like the gym and cafeteria would look like Hurrican Electric's data center :). Plenty of already made lockers, (Would need modifications of course) Good amount of parking space, an office area. Each room has a phone, and intercom system already in place. Each room has a TV that could flip through the security channels to see what is going on.
Ahh, well dreaming is a bit fun.
What are your dreams, or what do you think of mine? ;)

I didn't know VERIO was suppose to be the biggest WebHosting company here...

Until then all I wish is get to have my customers and have a dinner with them, a big huge croud. Getting to meet every one of them.... that would be great....

I would like to be able to get a datacenter that is close to my house so I could pipe some fiber over ;)

Also, I would like to be able to live off of my business... thats about it really. Fame and fortune would be nice, but I don't particularly mind if I never become the Bill Gates of webhosting.

Hmmmmmm

Well lets see..... I've already got the datacenter so I can't dream about that anymore......

I guess the next best thing is to buy a private island in the middle of no where, run a ****load of fiber to it, and have a nice big datacenter in the center of the island. After all, buy 10 racks of co-location and get a free vacation to my private island

*lol*

I just think it's a cool idea. We have cisco routers throughout the school too. :D

Fiber running between buildings. We're some 'technology' school. Also a Cisco academy, woo, free CCNA.

My dream is to become so well-resected in the technology community that large companies will offer me gobs of cash to sit in an office and think about stuff :D.

Of course, I would occasionally give a keynote address or two.

And since we're dreaming that office would of course be a huge office with windows all around on top of our high rise building with many other hosts collocated within since it's the "center of the universe" as far as connectivity is concerned :D

Why not be happy with what you have. Number and technology is somethig which keeps changing. You have a million, you want 10... then a billion.. and it goes on..

Better be competitive... but always thank god for what you have... there are many without that.....

I always enjoy my life... If I was to die today I'd have no regrets because I've lived my life the way I want and I'll continue to do so till I die...

Be happy guys... growth is a natural occurance in everybody's life... :)

Have a great day :)

Yea, but there has to be that one, poorest guy in the world, whether he is poorest monetarily, spiritually, or in some other way...what is he supposed to be thankful for :D?

So like when you were 10, you said to yourself, "Damned, I totally want to start my own outsourced hosting business." and have modelled your life in that fashion ever since? I know that I was a different person when I was 10 then I was when I was 20, so at 20 there are things I wished I had done when I was 10 or 15 (like study more so I wouldn't have to work my way through college). Now that I am 30, I wish that there were things I had done in my 20s. I don't know if they necessarily count as regrets, but if you do not make mistakes in life -- wish that you had done things differently in the past, how can you grow as a person?

On the other hand, as we all know from watching ST:TNG if you pull one of the threads that make up your life, you don't know what else will fall apart.

Guys,

It seems that most of you dream about cash, lots of cash. I am not different.

The best way to acheive that dream is to merge. Lets merge and create a large hosting company.

We can split the shares by the number of clients (or monthly payments we currently bring in).

Although I am currently based in Russia, I could come to the US to get this idea moving.

Economies of scale!

I would like to build a data ring around the earth in space. approximetly 1 mile thick X 1 mile that stretches all the way around earth in space. I would invent wireless data transfer units faster than OC-255's. We would have multiple support sections having many foriegn people so we can provide support to even the non-english people. Later on when we move into space and stuff that data ring would be known to the universe and become the main core of information. And it would be called nikonix. Sounds crazy huh? hehe but ya never know we are all different.

My dream or rather Aim is to have an excellent hosting company,

such that new comers would look up to us and say that we want to be like them.

That is something that will give the biggest satisfaction . After a certain point of time in your career , money is no longer a criterion. Its all about respect and fame,

That is what is my aim.

Not that i have reached that point of time in my personal career .

:D
