Saw today on phpnuke site that PHPNuke is no longer free. Wonder how they can manage to continue to call this open source when there is now a charge for this.

Open source != free

Free software in the terms of Open source does not necessarily mean free to purchase.

Yes, the GPL allows everyone to do this. The right to sell copies is part of the definition of free software. Except in one special situation, there is no limit on what price you can charge. (The one exception is the required written offer to provide source code that must accompany binary-only release.)

From the looks of it, it is still free.. Where did you read that it isent free any more?

The link down the left that says PHP-Nuke 7.3 (7.2 is still free to download from their site.

Also note as a copyright holder you can release GPL'd software under OTHER license as well. If the work contains other copyrighted material though you might not be able to do that however.

Well theres always postnuke...i always prefered that anyways over phpnuke

Actually try a Content Management System that does not involve nuke in any phrase of the CMS.

The problem I have with most PHP-nuke/Post-nuke sites is they all look the same with their layout. I'm sure you can probably change it but most people don't seem to. Note: I have never used either so I don't know how customisable they are.
