The forum software stops members from replying with a short text, you should have a try, this is probably to stop new members easly getting more posts in just to activate the pm and promoting more content for the search for indexing by the search engines...

But godaddy backorders get a big fat nope from me too.. Only good if your catching a domain not backorder by any of the big boys such as snapnames and pool.com.. Basically all the rubbish names but if its a rubbish name you want and you want to take a chance then will save you alot of money.

its like nothing compared to pool or high bid namewinner domains

used to be very good in old days (before pool coming to the market)

Like Bashar mentioned, pool is generally considered to be the market leader. GD has lost its effectiveness to a certain extent.

pool and namewinner are much better alternatives

It sounds like godaddy is good, only if nobody is interested in the domain. How do you judge what the interest will be in a name? I'm interested in one that's expiring in about a month. It's a 2 word .com that's listed on buydomains.com for around $200. It was a 2 year registration. I think it's pretty obscure, so I'm thinking of putting a godaddy backorder on it. If the seller can't get any takers at that price is it likely to get much backorder interest?

i used godaddy backordering a few times BUT i always lost against someone who used snapnames to catch it. Snapnames is too expensive in my oppinion but if you really want a name, i'd recommend snapnames.

snapnames has failed me countless times.... Pool.com is the best because they have the most registars trying to catch the domains for them... You do the math.

I've only used godaddys backorder once... I lost the domain but was able to transfer the backorder to another domain and eventually got it. It's worth a try and is not a bad service IMO

I've used GDaddy twice and both times I got the names. I have no idea if anybody els, had any interest in the names or not. Probably not, but for $19, it was worth it to me. I got the names and I didn't have to scramble to do it.

That's more or less my opinion, so I will probably give godaddy a shot. It's probably best to wait until the last minute because if someone else does get there first, it's a nice strong signal that I'll have to pay more or I won't get the name anyway.

I don't think it's worth the $60 pool.com fee to me. It's for a site that doesn't and will probably never generate revenue. I just get a few hundred daily visitors, but it would be nice to have the name I want for it.

Is GoDaddy one that will tell you if somebody else has already backordered the domain? I can't remember which ones do that and which ones dont.

GoDaddy only allows one backorder per domain name. So if the backorder is not available, then someone else has it... Same goes for SnapNames.

With Pool.com, you don't know how many people are asking Pool for the domain until and unless Pool is successful and then you have to bid for the name. NameWinner (which I haven't ben on lately) used to have a modified auction format with ever changing rules.

GoDaddy has actually done good for me lately, although I'm hunting for industry specialized names... But like Postmaster said above, it's all in the numbers. GoDaddy only has two registrars I believe and eNom's Club Drop has about 25 registrars. SnapNames apparently has 18 registrars and I don't know how many Pool has. The theory being that the more registrars, then the more attempts are being made to catch that latest domain name that we can't live without!

yeah godaddy tells you when you try to register a domain and its taken it will show you the backorder purchase option, if its taken it wont show the purchase option.
