I was looking around their boards and noticed some people complaining.. I dont know why.

I've been with them for the past few weeks and I have had no downtime, no slow downs, no issues. the service has been great, and my control panel is saying that I use less space than I really am:D
I would definitly reccomend them to any people sitting on the fence as I did before I signed up with them.

I am with Aletia for last 6 months and very very happy over there support and the features.

I could be wrong but it looks like aletia has successfully managed to remove a lot of the complaints messages from their forums.

Um, WTF?!?! They didn't remove anything from their. Aletia just addressed the issues. I am not an employee of Aletia as people love to use as an accusation on this board, simply one who is has been on the board since it started I had the second post there and I have never seen a post deleted. All the problems, all the praise, all the chit-chat. It's all there.

Aletia has had problems, but they are a great host!

Can people stop making dumb accusations on this board. WHT is filled with "you must be working for an opposing co!" "you must be an employee for this co." etc. Get a life people...

Aletia is a very good and responsable host, the posts are still in their forum, if you are not sure, then why say something like that ?

I moved to Aletia some time ago and I hosted ikonboard, mysql version. Before I move, I asked them if I can host it and they told me that they will be happy to host it if it is mysql and not dbm. So I moved.

They hosted me in a single processor machine at 933 mghz with 512 Ram. 99% of the time my board was using 0.01 to 0.07 CPU. Once it used 0.11 and once it used 0.13. Why am I saying all this? Because they suspended it! Why? Their email said that it used a lot of resources and it was listing the results of a ps command where the board was proved to use 13% of the CPU once and 11% another time. Just as I knew. And also they advised me to host my site in another company if I want to use ikonboard and they also 'highly recommended' vbulletin!!!!

For those I strongly say: Don't go with them. If you need more, I can tell you. I have kept all the emails.

I'm still getting spam off their cheetah server and had to use my current host's spam filtering to block it. They can't configure Mailman properly and then blame the problem on Mailman being "free". Well, spend some of those fees to get a mail server that you can work with, is all I can say. Ironically, no other webmaster I've spoken with (on other domains) has had complaints of mailman problems.

At one point I couldn't access my site (ftp, browser, cpanel, email - NOTHING) from either home computer (one cable, one AOL) and support blamed my ISP. I could ping other sites on the server. They finally gave in and moved me to a different server and the problem magically resolved.

Then the mailing lists went haywire. Email never arrived sent to them, and a member who signed up for digest got 500+ copies PER DAY of the email. Support's excuse? Her fault.

Needless to say, I am no longer with Aletia.

I have been with them for one month and there was no downtime. For service i can't speak because I don't use it. Here is their email. Just to add that they also chmoded my files to 000 and took the ownership so at first, before emailing them again, I coudn't even backup them. Also, for ikonboard, I was using mysql version and the CPU taken was usually 0.01 to 0.07. Ikonboard reports how much it uses that is how I know. And also, the machine was single processor and you can view its hardware features at http://stingray.nocdns.com . And I will laugh if someone says I am a competitor! I am now hosted by Saturn Services where they allow ikonboard. However, today it is down for more than 6 hours...:( My site is dalaras.com

Hmph... I'm new here and I can already see the tension between the different companies that chat here. If you're in doubt about one company's service, why not find someone else (who owns a domain) that has the same host? Email that person about the hosting.

Kylecool, indeed it is great uptime. I think it is their only one single processor machine, most users don't care about it but it proves to be the most reliable...:) That is why I didn't complain when they put me there! Anyway, I am not there now.

Aletia is the best host ive been with, I do get emails from downtime report sites but now and then.

I do have a concern that when aletia becomes bigger, It will start to lose support and uptime and other things.

I think that a lot of people would agree with that statement, as well as myself. When hosts grow real fast, they usually start to decline, however, usually they get more techs and stability, and are fine. ;)
