This will probably get censored if I write it like I want to so I'll do it in a "code" that you'll understand and will *hopefully* make it by the filter...
BULLSHIRT!!!
joubarani, your message is still there, I just read it.. Maybe you are as inept at finding posts as you may well be at managing your server and that is the root of the problem?
I don't normally bash, in fact, I used to be a moderator and I hate people who bash... But I've had enough of your carping, both here and at RS...
What in the world is your point of being here raising the rabble?
And I just love it when the competing host companies jump in with statements like this one by netsolutions.. there are a buttload of posts at RS that get left up... it's one of the downsides of having an open forum system. There are also a ton of good posts.. an amount that far exceed the people who have problems or are not happy. Which would be expected with 3000 machines under your wing. You are going to have a few who, for whatever reason, mismanaged boxes, bad support, fate.. *whatever* who are going to be unhappy.. What a crappy statement!
I think I've read enough of your messages at RS to understand that, at least, part of the problem lies within whatever you are doing/have done with your box.
But take it up with RS, what good does it do you to bash here? I've found that if I'm civil with people when I'm trying to get help that I get a civil response and usually solve my problems. If I was having as much problem as you are, and I was totally sure that it was the fault of the hosting company. I would not waste one day of bitching about it. I'd be gone and if my money were not returned I'd be in court.
Not slandering them.
Shortfireproof

Alright  You want to bash this guy that is fine with me because you have obviously delt with him before but when you bring me into this that is too far. I made a joke comment and you throw it back in my face

Excuse me, I didn't see the humor in it. If it was intended as humor, it went over my head.

netsolutions 12-23-2001, 03:42 AM Hmm...let me break it down for you then. It was kind of irony like "They aren't going to keep it on there if it is something bad (or whatever)" I was trying to be sarcastic. I saw this guy saying how they deleted this thread and I thought it was kind of funny that he posted a thread on their own support forums complaining about their support.

It still probably lost something in the translation for me but it's actually common on an open support forum for disenchanted users of whatever product it is to speak their mind. Also very uncommon for the board moderators to remove them. At least where I've been.
Rackshack is not perfect, I've yet to be with a host who was. But the way some of these guys portray them, you'd think they were almost criminal in their dealings.
I've observed about 3 or 4 people who seem to have a pattern of continual failures, some of it was very strong complaints about connectivity. *When* they finally posted any kind of traceroute, their problems were located on their end, yet, it went on for days.
I'm *NOT* saying there are not ligitmate problems, obviously there are.
As for my remark to you, there are a number of hosts here who seem bent on jumping in every time someone says something bad about any other host, particularly certain ones.
If I made the mistake of assuming your comment lumped you into that category, then I do apologize.

That's okay. Your right, RackShack isn't perfect but who is. They offer a service that people like at a price that people really like so lets credit them for that :)

I was told by various people when I was checking into moving there that they were at least above average... *unless* you needed a lot of hand-holding. And, personally, that is what I think happens there a lot!
You offer a really cheap server and you get a lot of people who know how to basically keep themselves out of trouble, but you also attract a lot of people who do not know how to keep themselves out of troube who should probably be buying a manged server somewhere.
They get in trouble, expect the level of service of a managed server, don't get it and get hostile.
That is what it *appears* to me to be. I'm VERY far from being a guru.. but am careful enough to not attempt anything over my head. I don't think everyone is that careful.
Not that they were an RS client but there was someone on the cobalt list the other day who was messing with the kernel and he was asking how to copy rename and move files.. I shuddered! You'd better have a little more basic knowledge before attempting something that in depth.
I'm right there in anyone's corner who has a ligit gripe but I'd never never never expect RS or any other unmanaged host to do anything other than keep my box running (mechanically) and keep the network alive. The rest, I believe, is up to me. If I break it, I'd ask for a restore, nothing more.

We do not consider this as a suitable place to bash people.
We did not deal with shortfork, unless u consider posting a reply is a dealing.

I saw this guy saying how they deleted this thread and I thought it was kind of funny that he posted a thread on their own support forums complaining about their support.
netsolution:!
If you read our recent post in RS forum, you would see that it has in the subject No comment"2" i.e.. it is a second one which we asked them to not delete, and they were kind to leave it as is.
The RS and webhostingtalk forums are public place to explain realities and help not for advertising only.
I don't normally bash, in fact, I used to be a moderator and I hate people who bash... But I've had enough of your carping, both here and at RS...
shortfork:?!
If you were upset of our posts you could simply ignore them and live calm, unless you think yourself an observer on the 2 forums, which we are sure it is not and hope you'll not be because the basic level a moderator should have is being objective.
I think I've read enough of your messages at RS to understand that, at least, part of the problem lies within whatever you are doing/have done with your box.
It seems that you have a different point of view even with RS people, and that let us ask you again (Kindly) to read any post carefully and correctly before posting a reply.
As we said before, we knew RS and other hosting companies from here and we consider webhostingtalk as a reference. We actually decided to leave RS after a short time of our subscription, but since we could not have our data from the second hard drive because any dealing with the server caused a server crash immediately we're obliged to continue with them until we have our data. And since you encourage dealing via court RS are lucky that u are not one of their customers and if you are they are lucky that you do not any serious problem with them.
We did not deal with anybody without being civilized. And if there is any misunderstanding, we think that we clarified in each post that we apologize for our poor English and any misunderstanding.
I'm right there in anyone's corner who has a ligit gripe but I'd never never never expect RS or any other unmanaged host to do anything other than keep my box running (mechanically) and keep the network alive. The rest, I believe, is up to me. If I break it, I'd ask for a restore, nothing more.
We wanted from them just to deliver us a server without a hardware problem. We experienced exactly what you talked about, we asked them to do several full restores, and in the last 2 ones we had internal server errors followed by crashes directly after we received it and before doing anything at all.
It is not a good idea to talk a lot about yourself claiming to be ideal, which we did not see in your postings, because you are using a bad language with people who did not hurt you. We can understand that this maybe because of your psychological status. Do not be busy with our problem to keep your mind safe.
We are sure that RS did not ask you to be advocate for them and if you were an employee with them, they would fire you because of your bad dealing with their customers and because of your misunderstanding of their problems and posts.
Not slandering them.
We are sure that this will not slander them because we know that they are a large company, and our post will not affect them. However, we were trying to share our problem with some people.

joubarani 12-23-2001, 11:37 AM shortfork,
To set your mind to rest, please read the last reply to our ticket support from RS tech. staff:
12/23/01 12:52:42 AM swapped out ram, no core dumping now but console will boot to the login prompt while the LCD panel shows it stuck on setting up bandwidth. rebooted serveral times, sometimes the it boots fully in console and LCD but the changes i make to the LCD wont save, or gets stuck in the setting up bandwidth part. leaving for grave yard to see if they can figure it out possibly.
We hope that this response teaches you to not put yourself in a position to be an advocate for people who didn't ask you to talk instead of them, and to avoid yourself the embarresment.
We think RS will appreciate our stability to continue being one of their customers.

shortfork 12-23-2001, 03:01 PM Well it's good to see you are dealing with the people who have to solve your problem for you.
I seriously doubt that anyone here has any physical contact with your machine.
Shortness
joubarani 12-23-2001, 04:51 PM seriously feel sorry for you
joubarani 12-24-2001, 10:35 AM The server is coming up again and it seems working properly for the first time of our subscription. We are testing it now.
Thanks to RS Vice President Robert Penington.
