Hello and this is my first post here....been lurking for a bit.

I am looking for opinions on reseller packages with the following requirements:

1. unlimited domains
2. easy to use control panel and billing system
3. ability for my customer's end users to be able to set up their own email autoresponders
4 reliable -- with 99.5% or better uptime SLA
5 support for xoops and other OS apps with fantastico or some similar package
6 shared and/or dedicated ssl
7 a company that actually runs dedicated servers and not a reseller of a reseller of a reseller...

that's the wish list. so far I have found the following and would also appreciate any opinions...

1. Hostgator all around looks pretty good and has good reviews

2. Matrixreseller also looks really good but I don't think they support shared ssl....anybody know if they will do dedicated ssl?

3. DDI Hosting seems to offer the most but recently looks like they had a major blip in their services...opinions from anybody who lived through the recent problems at DDI would be especially appreciated....i have already read through other posts and am just looking for other opinions

Thanks all

No shared SSL but dedicated SSL is free just need an IP to use it.

I don't reccomend you use ddihosting. There support and downtime and reviews at WHT have been really bad lately.

Might want to try: http://www.wohostings.com

I've taken a gamble with a few start up hosts lately, and have been getting quality service. Just waiting for that one lemon to come around. But I'm going to keep hitting up the virgin providers, they do give really good deals, that's something you might look into ...

I suggest you read around on these forums a little bit before considering DDIHosting, there should still be some posts towards the bottom of this section.

Well I lived through recent problems that DDI faced.

In fact about 1-2 of hours before when DDI went down, DDI was addressing my tickets. And this was almost happening in real time, as my tickets were getting responded within 30 minutes or so. Those tickets were regarding movement of server and updating my nameservers. But after it went down there was a long silence. Somehow my sites were intact, as I was able to update my server IPs.

Whatever, happened was something real big, as I do not have full knowledge, I wont comment on that.

Even as of now my tickets are bieng responded fast.

With such pricing and features I feel response to my tickets in 2-3 Hrs is good.

I will suggest, write a mail directly to Larry and ask whatever you want to. That may give you a better idea about their future strategy.

BlueWho has great service and everything you wanted. They are my host now and they have the best support out of any host I have been to. Plans start at $20, so it will not burn a hole in your pocket.

You mean no one even emailed you that they were going to take your site down. I try to give my users min 48 hrs to prepare and sometime longer for updates or upgrades. Like now there is a major upgrade and I won't do it but on a Mon thru Wed. and let them know about it well in advance.

Please read my post carefully, I said I was exchanging mails before it went down. Those exchange of mails were related to tickets that I have opened to update my DNS. The users were advised in forums on 10th July itself.

Apparently, its TP/SM that didn't informed DDI. But what happened between DDI and TP/SM, I do not want to comment.

By the way, DDI has given a full month credit for the downtime.

This is very good, does the forum send emails to all the users?? Or do you expect them to read the forums every day?

They have a optin feature for news, that is you have sign to get notices. Now if you do not optin then there could be a problem.

I would then make sure emails are sent out to all customers. If there are resellers I would let them know to send to their customers. It is up to them to tell there own customers. Unless the customer is told that for support you must optin, then it is different and you can't blame them

Any way in this case, the issue was more related to their service provider i.e. TP/SM. This has been already discussed in this froum. So I will not make any comment on this post.

Most of the websites on the net don't even come close to 1gig a month.

Thanks everyone for your thoughtful replies. I think I will give DDI a shot.

One comment -- there is a fine line between pointing out differences between you and a competitor and bashing a competitor. rcrich take note.
