hi guys ,

I am having one of those dual xeon 2.8 2 gig ram server now, i am thinking of adding another 2 gig ram to my exsiting server now

the server is mainly use to run a MS SQL 2000 server for 3-4 database , the size of the database is about 20-30 mb

and there is also IIS hosted with 4 sites on it.

If i were to add another 2 gig ram , would it further improve the performance ?

all experts thank you for your advice in advance

I dun think so, because your description doesnt seem to need so much ram and processing power. Did u check the Task Manager see which resources is near capacity?

It's hard to say where the bottleneck is, but RAM seems unlikely.

Here's question #1: Are you lacking performance?

Actually how do you know where is the bottleneck?
Depends on what you run, or you can gather stats overtime, and analyze it?

If you are not facing any slowdowns, any type of improvements is probably not needed.

However if you do, you need to first identify the bottleneck. While it can be RAM most times, it's not necessarily the only thing that can go wrong.
