Hello,

I'm looking for a detailed analysis of the web hosting market in the US, specifically San Diego.

Info like the following is essential:
1. How much money are people making?
2. How many customers should a startup expect in its first year?
3. How many web hosts are there in San Diego, or the country.

I plan to start a hosting firm in the near future and am wondering what to expect.

Assuming I implement an agressive marketing plan, what should i expect?

It would be great if someone who has started a firm could share some information.

I am a reseller and offer a wide array of plans, ranging from $3.99 to $39.99 per month. I'd also like to know if my price range is adequate.

Any help is appreciated.

Why would you expect your direct competition in the same city to provide you with competitive information? :(

My suggestion is to go out and do your own market research for your local area.

If you're planning to become a successful web host you'll be competing against other companies across the net, not just San Diego companies. Or if you're planning to stay local, you should do your own market research to be able make first hand informed business decisions later on.

This can potentialy turn into a good point of discussion.

I would like to add My question. This is to all (hosting companies, big or small, server co, experts etc.)

1. Does experts track a particular companies or set of companies.

2. When you (Hosts) started out your company what market or target area you had in mind? Sometime later how it evolved?

3. What do you think is the niche segment for some of the big host?
