Hi,

We have the following queries regarding DNS and their modification.

When we change the IP address or add more secondary NS
records to a nameserver domain, do we also need to make changes to each domain's record (IP addresses etc.)?.

For example we have a domain/nameserver as nameserver.com
and the individual records as
ns.nameserver.com 1.23.45.56
ns2.nameserver.com 1.23.45.67

we also want to either change the ns and ns2 records to different ip addresses and or add
ns3.nameserver.com as 1.23.45.78
and ns4.nameserver.com as 1.23.45.89.

Can we have ns and ns2 pointing to one isp/server and ns3 & ns4
pointing to another isp/provider ?.
Inm this case, will the visitors be redirected to either of the isp
on round robin basis or will the redirection to the second isp happen only when the first is inaccessible ?.

Thanks

Matra

Thanks,

That did answer most of the questions.

Just one little doubt.

- Suppose I need to change the dns info from my hosting service provider to a dns service provider. Can I ask them to use the same ns info ? (ns.currentdomain.com and ns2.currentdomain.com). In effect I will be using the same nameserver url.

If so the IP will anyway change but will that require that all my clients domain records (ns info) be changed ? .

I don't see how that would be possible. How did you plan on doing that?
