View Full Version : Support Ticket System
Maniac 12-21-2001, 12:51 PM Hi,
I am looking for a ticket system. I found http://www.phpsupportdesk.com and it looks pretty good. I'm not sure if you can customize it to the look of your site though. Anyone know? Do you know of any other ticket systems? Thanks..
Not sure how this one is, but might be worth checking out.

Maniac 12-21-2001, 12:57 PM Have you ever used that? Can clients also sign-up for a userID and request a ticket? Thanks.
Dunthank 12-21-2001, 01:00 PM You owe it to yourself to checkout PerlDesk at http://www.perldesk.com . It integrates helpdesk and knowledgebase into one. I've been using separate products for this, but am moving to the perldesk exclusively.
Maniac 12-21-2001, 01:05 PM Alright, PerlDesk looks awesome. Are you able to put your own company's logo where the PerlDesk one is? And it's free, correct? Thanks so much..
netsolutions 12-21-2001, 03:38 PM Why don't you build your own ;)

err...
Not enough time
Not a programmer
Why do it if there are already free ones and better ones out there?
jeez
Dunthank 12-21-2001, 03:53 PM Yes, PerlDesk is free and it is easy to replace the logo - see this thread in their forum - http://www.perldesk.com/forums/viewthread.php?tid=200
Maniac 12-21-2001, 05:08 PM Alright, thank you very much. I could have a programer do one however; it will save a lot of time this way. Plus we are very busy with other projects. Thanks again!
AH-Tina 12-21-2001, 06:04 PM We just installed PerlDesk last weekend - after trying out THREE commercial HelpDesks (phpsupportdesk being one of them). PerlDesk, in my opinion, is far more functional and customizable than any of the others....and it's FREE!!!!
I would have paid $100 for it, at least. :)

JustinH 12-22-2001, 05:10 PM I've looked at PerlDesk as well as PHP Support Desk. I do think they are both very nice scripts but here's a few things to note:
It's usually best to use software written in a language you feel most comfortable with.
If you aren't a programmer Commercial software offers support for your product. GPL software really doesn't. If you have the money to spend I recommend PHP Support Desk. I know Kunal and he will definately go out of his way to make sure things are running well for you.
netsolutions 12-22-2001, 06:04 PM We are building a custom one for ourselves right now. I think that is the best solution if you know programming and/or have a programmer

I agree. I wrote the one used at the last real job I had. I only wish that I was unethical enough to have stolen all of the libraries that I wrote for it while under hire.

It had timers to track time spent on calls, and lots of neat stuff.
eva2000 12-23-2001, 02:22 AM check out www.deskpro.com as well :)

bobcares 12-23-2001, 12:06 PM Hi!
I have two suggestions.
One is ticketsmith which we usually recommend to our clients. I like it a lot because of the ease of use. The only problems it has are - no attachments allowed, no forwarding allowed, no associated KB, sometimes the buggy and the error messages are not very well defined. Actually these are not bugs. It is just that if mysql or sendmail stops working it gives out weired messages... Otherwise it is a real cool software which it worth even paying for... :)
Also, I would like to recommend you http://www.deskpro.com/features.php
This seems to be a real good ticketing software. Have not used it yet... but definitely be using it soon as it seems to real cool. Highly recommended.... :)
Have a great day :)
regards
amar
vibehosts 12-24-2001, 01:58 PM We at Vibe Host don't use the ticket system yet but we do know you can customize it. Here my friend's company has it up. www.voyix.com I use phpnuke
