Im tempted to just purchase my first server which will probably be the Raq 4i, however there are no colocation area's that i can find that come close to the 300GB of bandwidth that rackshack offers just to rent the server. I would much rather OWN the server incase the company folds and i can get the server back, however is there any co-lo companies out there that come close to rackshacks offer in bandwidth and price??

i dont believe rackshack is actual given you 300gb transfer --they may be using that as a selling point --thanks alot of transfer if you think about it --- its like when a company say they will give you unlimited space but most sites dont even use 500mb of space lol

Why not? Have you ever heard of anyone being cut off by them or charged extra for bandwidth that should have been included in that 300gb? Of course they expect that most of their clients won't even come close to using it all, but I don't think that it is fair to say that they aren't really giving it to you. I have never dealt with Rackshack, but from what I have heard they do have customers using that much bandwidth and it is not a problem.

One thing to consider when shopping around is whether you are really one of those customers who will use 300gb. If 50gb would be enough, then the extra 250gb is just insurance against getting nailed with extra bandwidth charges if your usage increases in the future.

i'm sure there are plenty of people using more than 300gb. i was reading the forums the other day and someone mentioned using 500 - 600 or something like that and not having to pay overage.

So if i plan on resaling the space on my server i shouldnt expect to have 300BG at my disposal to resale?

Which brings up another good point, obviously im not going to be able to resale the whole 20GB HD and the 300GB bandwidth because i am going to need resources to run admin tasks.. . does anyone know apprx. how much i should set aside for such things?
