I'm in search of a script that would let me add both URL cloaking and preferably path forwarding to my domain services. Idealy, the end user could log into an admin type area, and change the direction of the redirect when ever they want. I've seen most of the stuff at hotscripts.com and most of it looks unfinished. Commercial or Open Source doesn't matter.

BTW, iRedirector from scripts24.com was pretty close, but that is meant to work off of subdomains and sub directories.

Anyone have suggetions or experiances with such a script?

Thanx.

What do you mean by URL cloaking and path forwarding?

Url cloaking allows someone to register a domain name, and have it point to something like members.aol.com/~user/index.html, while keeping the newdomain-name.com in the address bar. This can be done with a frame, or thru the DNS entry.

Path forwarding adds to this, by continuing the path in the browser line.

members.aol.com/~user/topdirectory/thispicture.jpg would show up in the browser line as www.newdomain-name.com/thispicture.jpg

I would like to be able to offer services similar to what most larger registers offer (see http://alldomains.com/d-gear/ for an example) where the user could log in and make any changes they wanted, without having to wait for me to change thier A records and such.

I've seen scripts that do this, but can't remember where. (it wasn't hotscripts.com) and I don't want to do sub-domains, like ******** etc.

Anyone?

I know of one thats pretty nice. Try smartcgi's UrlForwarding Script.

Hope this works for ya..

Thanks. Not sure if that will do it though; I didn't see an opiton to have *any* domain name forward to a different location.

I did find http://www.go2cgi.com/forwardpro/demos.shtml but I am not 100% positive on this one; I emailed the author, but have yet to hear.

Would be nice if it were either of the two :)
