View Full Version : The worst experience in my dedicated-life. (FDCServers.net)

Hi all,

As I can see, this forum is intended to share experiences about dedicated servers....so here comes my history...

Three months ago, I decide to move from servermatrix (where I had no complaints) to FDCServers. Of course, the only thing that I was looking was "un-metered" bandwidth...the prices were (I guess) the same as SM....

So...I became one FDC client...

First day: They gave me my machine.
Second day: 25 minutes offline: a DDos attack.
Third day: 55 minutes offline: a DDos attack.

Every day: Ping outs, 5, 10 minutes of network offline.

Most of their problems seems to be on IRC (that get ddos´ed every day...)...and the hosting clients are in the same core router that is used by IRC...

Don´t believe in FDC´s contract: they say that the network are separated, but it´s just separated internally....if someone decides to attack the router...everyones goes down.

Anyway, I´m getting out from there.

This is just an advice for those who think about going there...

They have horrible pingouts, everyday they get ddos´ed...

and their support it´s a shame.

Redsox.

I have dabbled with FDCServers before and they were not the best. I guess when you have a low budget and don't care about quality they are fine. Otherwise.....

We offered shell hosting services not too long ago and had a FDC box. Did well for us and they handled DDoS attacks well while we were customers of them. Seems that we got out in the nick of time.

i found out that they are not actually cheap ....

you can get 2 angelnetworkz servers (theplanet dc) at around $200 and the performance would be much better than fdc

furthermore i think you are allowed to combine bandwidth

Perhaps everyone will read the forums here before they buy from places that have a bad rep here. (FDC, Managed, AIT... to name a few)

fdc are not actually that cheap, if you look at some recent posts you will find they are not actually true unmetered it is just clever advertising. They seem to be selling unmetered 100mbit ports but in a recent thread someone got capped when they were sustaining over 60mbit meaning it isnt really unmetered. I would stay away from fdc for things that require good connectivity such as irc, gaming and streaming they might be ok for webhosting and file transfers but not much else.
