Hi, im about to buy a new server from managed and im new to this so can I ask which OS is best recommended for 1 CS 20 player server and the rest hosting. Also would it be easy for me to installl CPanel? Cause I dont know if the 20 bucks for a CPanel installation along with Paying for CPanel from SoftwareWorks is the right thing to do.

I would highly recommend against running a game server and hosting on the same server.

As for a OS I think I may get FreeBSD but im confused about the OS and WHM.

Alright I got the Cpanel part figured out I just need someone to give me advice on if I should get RedHat, FreeBSD, or Debain. Im thinking on FreeBSD but I need some advice on this.

Do you have any previous experience with any of those OS'es? If not, I would, without a doubt, recommend RedHat. If you have prior Linux experience, but not *BSD, go with Debian, although cPanel support for Debian is in BETA form right now, and Managed.com/SoftwareWorks might not support it.

Ive only used GentooX on my XBOX and I know the basic commands including how to install various things such as HLDS.

I would also suggest RedHat if you have little experience as well as the Direct Admin Control Panel instead of CPanel. I have many customers using Direct Admin and they are all very pleased. I have gotten nothing but good feedback on this Control panel. It also runs very well with RedHat 9.0 OS.

You should look into this option before you move forward.

Hosting multiple domains on the same server you host a Game on is a bad idea as stated above.

What bad features could possibly happen with the one counter-strike gameserver?
