hi everyone,
I don't know if this is the right place to ask this questions. anyway, my question is very simple. we have an ISDN account with a local ISP and we have 32 IPs which we only use one of them. I have been told that we can offer Dail up accounts to other people so that we can pay back the ISDN account. does anyone knows how this can be done?

I really need help in this subject and thank you in advance.

Hi!
I really don't know if your ISP would allow that. If they do. Then it is very easy to set up a dialup server.
All you have to do is keep modems to get which would receive the dialup requests from clients.
If you are using Linux then mgetty can do the work for you.
It's quite an easy work. Also with Linuxconf you can set up dialup users. That's it..

Have a great day :)

regards
amar

thanks alot bobcares for your reply.

so as I understood from your reply, I will get a linux server and connected it to our switch. now, how would I connect this server to multiple modmes physicaly? is there a device that alow this? and do I have to get 20 external modems to support 20 accounts or is there a device that has a multiple modems in it?

Your right, it is pretty easy to setup using Mgetty, but what about the cost of the phone lines, and modems required? I imagine that would be quite high.

I believe Chase Research makes cards with 4-8 modems onboard. Setup won't be difficult under Linux. Check out Linuxdoc.org there is a how-to on setting up an ISP with RedHat.

OK, I guess I am almost there, I searched the internet to find a cheap multi-ports modem, but the cheapest I got was around 1k. I am thinking if it's possible to connect the server with a USB hub and from there I can connect multi USB external modems. I am wondering if this can be done?
