IF you need a raq 4 unit now.
Besides rackshack, you should go to serverrack.net, they can get one up and running within 30min-1hr. If you have any q's write me back a message and I'll give you their #.

Anyone know how they automate set-up like that?
Pretty smooth.

it's pretty simple. the raqs are already online, i believe. all they do is have a script go in and modify a few things. actually, i saw everything they did just by checking out .bash_history.

my .bash_history is long gone. someone with a recent raq, or any other machine from RS i'd imagine, could grab it for you.

Smart thinking to look at the bash history.

We leave them connected to the reboot switch and fully configured with IP, etc. and then go to power down via front panel. We leave the server at "Please Turn Off Power Now" and then send a reboot when we get an order. That way, no one even has to walk to the rack and do a thing.

Some companies do that and it works weel for them, I however wait till i get what the customer wants in terms of name, alias', passwords and so forth then the box is loaded with all the patch's and software and then is put on the network. This works for us, plus I know everything that is going on, so in the long run it helps me and others.

Serverrack is upgradding their systems, but maintaining a connecting to the racks, including cobalts, that they have.

It does say fiber on their page but it also says that fiber is run by the building and it will be a future upgrade. I'm sure you were told you were on a T1, and they do not set the bandwidth limits on there raq's. The speed is not changed to as you said to mess with you. In fact It 's not changed at all. You are put on a T1 with others and that line is shared. A second T1 has been installed and they are setting up BGP with there providers. This should give you more speed, I dont see how you can say that they gave you memory to compensate you for speed, and come to think of it you should not say that if it inst true.

I feel bad for whatever I started, I aknowldege serverrack.net for their support in this... Maybe they got that new line in because of me. That's a sign of 'change' and support... New lines, new changes, better speed, better support... change is good.

Thanks...

oc48s arent exactly inexpensive, and you dont get them on a special sell on saturday. I see that you are a web hosting biz right. So if they should have oc-48s then so should you, right?
I'm not giving you b.s. and you might of quit your job before you should have, but thats your prob. They dont controll so why would you even use it. I mean you are saying that this is bad and that is bad. But your site is up right! And theirs is down, so whats it to you. If their doing upgrades their doing upgrades. There is really no way around that is there. It looks to me like there taking the hit on the network to keep there customers from being down. To me that shows a bit more like a good business than what your making them out to be. If their DNS or network was down then your sites and their other sites woud be too. So the fact that their sites are down for whatever reason and yours are up, does not give you any right to bash that Company.
