Alan - Vox 12-20-2001, 06:17 AM Problem is already fixed, run away scripts, ahhhh
sorry about that
Alan - Vox 12-20-2001, 06:24 AM Well thats not entirely true, ive not found out which script was cauing it yet, the load was so high at the time i couldnt run what i needed to find out what it was, im watching the sever like a hawk now to see if it happens again.
P.S
It didnt last several hours, have a look at http://www.splashhost.com/monitor/tfxgraph.php?interface=eth1&type=lineaverage
Alan - Vox 12-20-2001, 06:31 AM Just a quick update, i found the site which i think was causing the problem and its been suspended.
Alan
SimonMc 12-20-2001, 08:50 AM "You think" was causing the problem.....as a potential customer of yours...I would hope to God you never suspend accounts on a whim.
Alan - Vox 12-20-2001, 09:19 AM ok, change that to the site that WAS causing the problem
TimPD 12-20-2001, 11:42 AM You never want to supsend a account for violating the terms or hogging the server usage without first emailing them. Alan did the right thing and changed what was causing the problem with a email telling them not to do it again i'm sure.
Alan - Vox 12-20-2001, 11:51 AM When a site is crashing a server it will be suspended straight away without any notice, otherwise the server could be down for days while we wait for the owner to remove the scripts.
Rewdog 12-20-2001, 01:41 PM Hey, where can I get/download the
tfxgraph.php
? :)
JeffW 12-20-2001, 07:50 PM Thank you very much for resolving it!! But the load is still high, can you change it please? :( load average: 1.85, 1.72, 1.14 Then everything is fine again!! :look:

That is not that high of a load. Yes it's getting there but nothing drastic.
You can get that script here:
http://www.can-host.com/php/tfx.html
Alan - Vox 12-20-2001, 09:30 PM 1.85, 1.72, 1.14 isnt that high, a Dual processor server should be able to cope with a load of about 5, im sure that might cause a few arguments but thats for another thread. Im getting another 512mb ram installed in that server soon as well.
Webdude 12-20-2001, 11:32 PM Is that the outgoing for the machine?? Geez, my worldzone.net averages 3.2mbps!! I could only wish it to be so much lower..dang. I'd save a lot of money by shutting down the free side....but I'd have a lot of pissed off people...
Actually a good Dual 800+ can easily handle a lot. We have hit 90% before when there were runaway scripts, and the machine never slowed down. However, if it goes over 100% (trust me, it can, I've seen it), it will start to stagger. Thats if the app isnt using much ram. If the app is using a good amount of ram as well as cpu....you will seriously notice it after hitting 40%. We implemented RLimitMEM, RLimitCPU, RLimitNPROC due to such abuse..
Thanks for showing where that script is teck..
Chicken 12-21-2001, 09:09 AM Errrr.... those numbers are server load, not bandwidth...
