Do you have time and knowlege to manage the server besides supporting your clients?

Well I think that your post is really way too vague. There are many factors which should help you decide on getting a dedicated server. Are you currently a reseller?This is in no particular order
how much bandwidth your clients use
server resources
your knowledge on an array of linux oriented info such as compiling kernals, sendmail, bind, other modules.
Do you have the time and resources to support your clients, ie resellers really don't have to worry about server related problems except if the server is down
