I can only reccomend server4you.net
After several years of dedicated servers with aprox. 30 different providers, we finally found the right one, and placed actually 4 boxes there...
So after now 6 months hosting with them I wish to reassume...
Plus points
1.) Server control panel area is working and easy to handle, so from soft / hard reboots up to system recovery etc...., these are things decided by you and executed via your interface in the promised time, even on weekends....
2.) adeguate pricing...
3.) Network performance ok, limited bandwidth, but efficient performance...
4.) Excellent tech support either Software as Hardware, you do not imagine how you can feel to mail a real person with real answers, who even looks into your box on a problem you place.
This indistinguished on weekends and day/nighttimes, as as you know well ... as per Murphey's laws ...
"If something breaks it happens on friday night , saturday and sunday, New years eye and 1st of May"
Minus points...
1.) One Server setup took a while (two weeks), as they were
changing their database, etc and lost and relost our orders.
2.) At the beginning one Server was on a subnet with poor performance in Ftp, so small files 20 Kb took 10 seconds each (server to server wget), 1 MB to 120 MB tar.gz went at up to and over 6 MB/sec... issue solved within two / three days...
3.) They do have just a few server set-up combinations, that is their standard, and as it works may be it is better this way.... we use their dual power plans, as they do not offer hugher machines....
Issues on Hardware....
Network card crash (2hrs replacement)
Hardware reboot box (2 days it was weekend, replacement wasn't available), no great problem just reboot over their cp was unavailable.
I just wanted to share this info with all of you, as I checked and check major providers for our machine park.
We have actually other boxes with other providers, but just and only for the reason that we need to be online even if the provider has serious problems, thus I need to maintain those contracts...
... useles to tell you this is the first posting I place as I can talk positively,.... about a provider....
